Last week looked like a dull slate and turned into one of the best weekends of college football of the season. This week looks a lot more interesting from the start, hope it doesn’t turn out to be a dud.
This is also bowl eligibility weekend with a lot of 5 win teams hoping to get that 6th win that means they don’t spend the holiday season at home.
Thursday starts with what should be a good one.
(25) Memphis visits 4-2 Houston. Two teams that may not be major powers but who have a lot of talent. Should be a fun game with a lot of big plays.
Friday we get the locals.
Air Force who came back from a huge deficit last week gets another chance to get their season back on track against a terrible Nevada squad.
CSU is one of those teams looking for win #6 on the road at a New Mexico team that has struggled at times this year.
Saturday gives us two match-ups of top 25 teams.
(19) Michigan tries for the upset against (2) Penn State.
(11) USC has a chance to get a big win for PAC prestige at South Bend with (13) Notre Dame.
In an almost top 25 match-up Navy at 5-1 looks to move into the rankings by beating (20) 5-0 UCF.
Other interesting games (10) Oklahoma State has a chance to knock 3-3 Texas down again. Horns fans are not happy. Even less happy are Tennessee fans and it won’t get better this week. Speculation on their boards is that Butch (we call him Food Cart) Jones will be fired following this week’s destruction at the hands of (1) Alabama. He will still always have his Life Championship.
Another potential blasting has high scoring (23) West Virginia at 0-6 Baylor who thinks scoring is ignoring a girls “no’s.”
Nebraska fans don’t have to deal with another ugly loss this week, only because they don’t play.
In the PAC we get 4-3 Oregon at 3-3 UCLA, 3-3 Arizona State at 4-2 Utah, and upcoming Buff opponent 3-3 Cal host 4-2 Arizona.
In FCS Northern Colorado 2-3 hosts Montana State 2-4.
RMAC small schools getting interesting with Fort Lewis upsetting Pueblo last week Mesa and Pueblo are now tied for the conference lead with one conference loss each.
This week Mesa goes to Adams State and Pueblo hosts Black Hills State. Mines hosts Dixie State.
