Other games weekend of 10/20-10/22

They have been almost invincible at home.

Part of that is that they have played a lot of bad teams at home.

Most of those have been MWC teams. Mix in some weak non-conference opponents like Idaho, Idaho State, Louisiana Tech, etc. Their toughest opponents have been some P5 schools but most of those have been bottom enders like Oregon State, Washington State, etc.

They have a small number of quality teams mixed in to there but very few.
 
Boise was dominating and up 14-0

BYU with to pick 6s and a FG now lead 17-14.

BYU even managed to overcome a ready bad call when they tried to run a fake punt out of the end zone and 4th and about 18. Boise stopped them inside the 5 but a Boise player spiked the ball for a 15 yard penalty. Boise stalled then missed the FG attempt.

Now Boise fumbles the ball back to BYU on the end of a long run.
 
BYU tried a fake punt out of their end zone on 4th and 19 and were stuffed behind the line of scrimmage. Idots.
 
BYU would be better in a power conference, of course. Scheduling is hard, but if the Cougs ever managed an undefeated season against:

Arizona
Utah
UCLA
West Virginia
Toledo
Michigan State
Mississippi State
Boise State
Cincinnati
Southern Utah
UMass
Utah State

Obviously not this year, but they'd have a case for themselves. But that late October/November scheduling is really, really challenging for them
 
Big night for me with Hokies and Packers in action, which has turned out to be the best Thursday night football EVER, without attending a game.

Just catching up on end of GB game on DVR time now.

First place Virginia Tech Hokies!
First place Colorado Buffaloes!!

Life is good.

Only because I'm from Davis - it's UC Davis, not a Cal State school...which a lot of the locals call "Cal Davis" or "UCD". But yes, Sacramento would either be called Sac State or Cal State Sacramento...both are acceptable.
 
Cal and Oregon trying to salvage their seasons tonight. Should be interesting. Oregon's route to a bowl is tough enough already and Cal hanging by a thread

I'm going to watch this game because I want to see how many yards to defenseless teams can give up combined.

4-2 LSU at #25 is not a stretch- losing close games to good teams. They belong for now.

Florida is way over ranked but I get it with LSU. Ole Miss I don't see why they are top 25 now with record, but they are good and will belong in top 25 by the end of the year after they play at home against the usual run of patsies

As much as I hate Oregon, the Ducks showing life would help our SOS and shut those up (like ASU fans pre-game last week) who said our wins are fairly weak. Keep that chip on your shoulder, Buffs. Lot of doubters to silence and and a Stanford win would do it

Watching a little of this Temple/S. Florida game. Did anyone catch the AD from (I think it was S. Florida) talking about a G5 School getting into the playoff? He kept referencing P5 as P6. I didn't really pay attention to it until he said that. Not sure what preceded that, but he seemed absolutely clueless about everything.

In (somewhat undefendable) fairness, it was P6 until the Big East imploded. But that was enough years back, it essentially proves the point the guy has no clue.

BYU had the game in hand until they shanked a game-winning FG. Boise has the most unimpressive wins of the undefeateds, especially vs. CSU and OSU. Allowed the Rammies to score 23 points on the blue turf? The same lame lambs that only managed 7 points against the Buffs on a neutral field. Allowed the Beav's to score 24 points. The same Beavs that couldn't find the end zone at CU. Yet BSU is Top 15, while CU is unranked? Problem is guys like Howell who keep promoting them in the rankings every week despite their weak wins.
