P12 brings in more $$$ than other P5 conferences

If someone watches very little content, I could see it saving money. But if we're talking the very basic of channels like the broadcast networks and the staples -- you can get that for 19.99 a month. At worst, maybe 39.99 a month?

We'll see soon enough.

Well the SEC let this nonsense PAC 12 revenue headline last about a week.

2014-15 SEC revenues expected to be $455 million, with distribution of $435 million, $31 mil per school. They reported revenue of $309 million last year, so its pretty easy to account for most of the increase.

32 million extra for CFB playoff (50 mil payout minus 18 for old BCS)

70 million for SEC Net (reported at 5 mil per school)

27.5 million for Orange Bowl.

Which leaves about 16 million of the increase to the annual TV contract escalator, or other factors.

Note that the Orange Bowl $$$ is not guaranteed every year, but only ND, the sec and Big Ten can access that slot. ND is capped at 2 appearance, while the two conference have no max, just a min of 3 (contract lasts 12 years).

And next year all p5 conferences other than the ACC will get an addional 40 million each from the Rose/Sugar bowl additions (they pay 2 of 3 years due to the play off semi final rotation).

Obviously the P12 revenue above is for 2013, but the only additional revenue I see coming in is the CFB playoff money and annual TV escalator (think it's 4%?). Would guess 25 million in 2014-15.

DTV and Charter need to pick up the P12 Net at the current asking price, or P12 will really lag the BT and SEC. (I don't see mechanisms where the ACC or B12 jump ahead though). Not sure there anything the conference can do to make it happen, though. Given the high expenses of the net right now, lowering the price would likely mean more subscriptions, but also a loss instead of a profit.

Remember, for the Pac-12 to Net $31MM per school we only have to get to a payout of $374MM vs the SEC (with 14 members) having to get to a payout of $434MM for the same per-member payout.

While the aggregate can look kind of far away we can actually be pretty damn close on a per-school basis.

This is why, of course, the Big 12 doesn't want to add 2 schools that won't contribute to much revenue growth.
