Pac-12 Media Day 2023

OSU will finish ahead of Oregon
Season 8 Wow GIF by The Office

Im not sure youre wrong. But that one is the closest one.

My hot takes:

-USC won't win the conference
-Stanford won't finish last
-OSU will finish ahead of Oregon
-CU won't finish 11th and will upset a ranked team
1. Agree. Utah (even with Rising still dealing with the ACL) has to be the favorite until proven otherwise. Wilner had a good point with them-the question there is can they avoid stumbling against Florida and/or Baylor?
2. I don't know if I agree, but if they don't, I think ASU likely does. That's a project, and I'm not a believer in Drew Pyne.
3. I can see this, but not sure if I'm willing to go as far as you did. I think Oregon may have upgraded at OC with Will Stein over Dillingham. Smith's a hell of a coach, and if they hit on DJ, they can be CFP good.
4. If CU's that low, Shedeur had a major injury.

Florida isn’t what they used to be. They will be struggling for breath in the 2nd half In SLC.

Utah has a tough schedule. I was listening to the Cover 3 podcast the other day and they were split on whether they hit their win total of 8.5.

Their first 4 are Florida, @Baylor, Weber St, UCLA, and @Oregon State. Cam Rising might not even play. There is a path for Utah to go 1-4 over that stretch. It's very unlikely that happens, but I think they are more likely to come out of that at 3-2 than 4-1 or 5-0.

After that, they get their Bye, then it's Cal (W), @USC, Oregon, ASU, @Washington, @ Arizona and finishing with CU at home. USC, Oregon and Washington could all be losses.

Aside from CU, I think Utah might have the biggest dispersion of legitimate possible outcomes in the conference. I could see them going 6-6 as easily as 10-2.

USC won’t win it…some outOSU, ASU, Utah, or a combo of one to three will beat the perennial paper tigers of Brentwood.

I’ll take U-dub or Utah to take the conference at this point of the road trip.

One of the North CA teams is walking away as the biggest loser of the year.

The AZ schools will be AZ schools.

CU is a complete wildcard, and I’ll be here for it. The excitement and hype is at a total frenzy. The Buffs are living rent free in every body that gives an ass scratch’s worth of acknowledgment to college football. So, in my mind, the Buffs have already won a lot in psychological aspect of this season. Teams are going to come guns a-blazing when playing the Buffs, but there is not one shred of game tape out there to go off of. I expect/hop every game to be a dogfight on the field. Unfortunately, I also foresee a lot of bull**** to happen to the Buffs - chippy and cheap shots as well as BS calls. Hopefully Coach Prime works his magic to attract opposing players to consider hitting the portal and come to CU the next season 😂

That all said, I see the Buffs sitting comfy in mid standings at this point - at the 5-7 range…6 wins at least

USC's schedule:

First 6: SJSU, Nevada, Stanford, BYE, @ASU, @Colorado, Arizona
Last 6: @ND, Utah, @Cal, Washington, @Oregon, UCLA

It's probably even money that they start 6-0, but my goodness that back half is as rough as it gets. I think they are in the 9-3 to 11-1 range

If you are going to be wrong might as well be really wrong.

CU finishes at least 6 or 7, likely higher. This is a whole new team that shares almost nothing with last year and prior years.

USC chokes because they always choke, 3-4 loses by the time it is over.

Utah and Washington battle for the title. Washington is the best overall team, Utah always finds a way to be good in the trenches.

Arizona and Cal will be awful. They have been and will continue to be.

USC's going to blow a game or game(s) they shouldn't this year. Everybody they play in league (except UCLA) is going to want a piece of them on their way out the door.

That’s fine, but they have the best player in the sport at the most important position, and a top 5 HC/OC. They added a lot of dudes on defense. The key will be whether Grinch can replicate his Wazzu days
