Pac-12 Results - Week 3

USC had -5 rushing at Texas. Wow
And that's with a stable of damn good RBs along with a very talented & experienced OL.

I get that teams are loading the box and forcing the freshman QB to beat them while trying to speed him up with pressure in order to force mistakes. But that opens up a lot of opportunities, too. Something is drastically wrong with that offense.

Random thought for this morning: Arizona isn't nearly as good as the preseason hype, but they're not nearly as bad as conventional wisdom has them right now. Losing to BYU by 5 points is nothing to be ashamed of. The Houston showing was horrible, but that's just 1 game going on the road after the letdown in the opener. I expect them to go to Corvalis and get the win this week, setting up a big game for both programs at USC the following week.

Keep in mind Sumlin has a poor track record over the second halves in his career.

UA was tied with Southern Utah at 17 with a few minutes left in the 1H before UA scored one more TD before the half. I think they are a little worse than what you are thinking.

To be fair the Big Ten had a pretty embarrassing day. Northwestern and Nebraska both lost to teams they paid $1 million+ to play. Wisconsin lost at home to BYU, Maryland lost at home to Temple and Rutgers got blown out by Kansas. Kansas is one of the worst teams in football.

The thing I cannot get over when watching USC the last couple seasons is how lost their secondary looks.

Seriously. That was the beauty of what Pete Carroll did there. Just loaded up all that talent, ran simple schemes that allowed guys to play fast early, and simply overwhelmed most of his schedule. It's not a difficult formula at USC. It's a place where coaches have to be very organized and disciplined with a KISS strategy while having the toughest opponent each week usually on Tuesday when the guys fight for their personal roster position that week.

Tate now has more passing yards than Montez

Worth noting ASU only ran for 1.4 YPC against San Diego St.
The one thing that worries me about that stupid team is their 50/50 balls. They aren't scared of them, have more than one receiver that can catch them, and CU D-backs have been exposed as prone to allowing those to be completed. Standard pass routes, that's a whole other subject.
