I’ve always liked big, nasty, fast DLman with a single digit number.
I remember always watching out for those guys in HS. Typically DL had the 50-79 numbers to correspond to the OL positions. Sometimes 80-99. As a OG, if I saw a DE, or edge guy wearing single digits or teens numbers…I knew I needed to come in a little hotter on bootleg protection, or pulling on a toss play. The real problem ones always seemed to wear no. 8. Also the 5’3” 250 lb kids that always seemed to play NT. Those kids were a different breed, too. It was probably similar to pitching to a batter with a ridiculously low batting stance.
