El Paso-Jaurez...it isn't just the fun that dies.

Sadly,

El Paso - Juarez used to be a fun place to spend a few days, now you don't do that unless you have to.

Was it last year or the year before that bullets from an exchange in Juarez ended up flying onto campus almost hitting some people.

Nope a few years ago https://www.kvia.com/news/mexico-vi...-juarez-shootout-strikes-utep-campus/53145161 and actually hitting someone close to campus in the downtown area https://www.kvia.com/news/woman-sho...et-from-mexico-speaks-about-incident/53247897

These are from 2010 but the cartels are still in control of much of Juarez. Not a place you want to spend a lot of time more worried about having fun than protecting yourself.

The golf is probably pretty decent there. I bet I could find a bar or two and some decent Mexican food. I could make that work. I’d prefer Vegas, (or Pasadena), but El Paso will do.

To start with considering our lack of bowls over the past decade and a half we don't have a lot of room to be picky.

El Paso has some advantages. They do have some killer food there and a few cool places to visit. It is an easy trip from Colorado, don't even have to deal with a time change. Weather for the game is almost always nice.

We could have bowl games in Shreveport (dull city, lousy weather) or Memphis (cool city, almost always lousy weather for the bowl.) Other bad locations due to bowl time weather are Annapolis, Birmingham, Mobile, The Bronx, and Boise.

Lots of nice places, hard to go wrong with San Diego or some of the Florida cities but all in all El Paso isn't a bad deal for CU.

The Sun Bowl is a pretty well respected Bowl. I have not been to El Paso in along time, but tell me, what is there to do there?

Not much anymore. Some good restaurants with excellent Mexican food, some interesting shopping. Culturally a visit to the Chamizal National Memorial is an interesting couple hours if you like history and politics. There is some decent desert hiking in the region in some state parks. Also interesting on the way to or from to visit Carlsbad and Guadalupe Mountains NPs.

It used to be fun to cross the border and spend some time in Juarez . 15-20 years ago my wife and I used to go stay there for a couple days at a time but now that is much more iffy from a safety standpoint.

Narrative on the Buffs is that opponents are 1-16.

If we beat ASU, they'll be 3-3 which will change this to 4-19.

CSU at winless SJSU is a good chance to be a win for 5-19.
Nebraska at Wisconsin is an almost certain loss for 5-20.
UCLA vs Washington is an almost certain loss for 5-21.
New Hampshire hosts Holy Cross and is a game the should win for 6-21.

6-21 certainly isn't an opponent record that's going to impress people but it would be a hell of a lot better looking than 1-16. Would help our Buffs in Sunday's polls, for sure.

Nothing would make me happier than having that conversation dominate the CFB media from late October through the selection show.

Gameday dufus picked ASU to win, but that idot is 7-8 on the year, I was hoping he'd make that pick. Also Corso picked ASU, but he's not capable of more than a first level analysis. He disappears from the set periodically.

Corso is the Charles Barkley of college football. People like him because he's entertaining-not because of his deep analysis. Herbstreit and Howard both picked us today.
