Post week one outlook changes?

I was thinking biggest early home game. I would consider last year vs Michigan a bigger road game than '06 Georgia.

Yep. You're correct - midseason.

Remember 2010 Georgia. When they were like 1-2 or 0-3. And we rushed the field after beating them?
**** yea I do. Best win I witnessed at Folsom in the decade between last year and Barnett. (missed Oklahoma)

Ask me after Washington. OOC was all about beating little brother. How we did it didn't matter. These next two are all about working out the offensive issues and making sure we're healthy when they come in here.

Outlook of 8-4 has not really changed. A lot of teams In this conference capable of beating each other in most weeks. Even ASU is going to be good on offense, which will be enough to pull a couple upsets.

As always, winning on the road will not be easy, even if it looks much less daunting than last season.

Now (before season)
1 (3) Stanford - Out of the gate fast
2 (2) USC - W Mich revealed kinks
3 (1) UDub - Bad start in Piscataway
4 (4) Wazzou - closer to UDub
5 (8) Oregon - Taggart has an O
6 (5) Colorado - Better D. Lackluster O
7 (6) Utah - New QB not a passer
8 (7) UCLA - More lucky than good
9 (10) Cal - Props for UNC road win
10 (9) ASU - Meh.
11 (12) UofA - still undefeated
12 (11) OSU - Soft - not a 4Q team

Before the season I had us at 9-3, going undefeated at home and losing to OSU, UCLA and ASU on the road. Now I think we'll lose to UW and USC at home, plus two of @UCLA, @WSU, @Utah. 8-4.

OSU and ASU are not good. But after Friday I realized again that we just don't have what it takes to compete with the truly elite teams in the trenches, which will make it very difficult to beat UW and USC, even at Folsom.

I think we have a reasonable shot at winning the south again this year.

I did not think that a week ago.

Because you saw something in the CSU game??? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Reality check:
CSU is a middling Gx program
We have a new QB to break in
We have a new DC to break in
We can probably beat the next two teams with 10 men on the field. I.e., not much of a challenge to get us in season shape. After that we face the speed and agression of a top 10 team and a UCLA team that appears be rising by coming back and beating a P5 opponent.

Im not prepared to go there yet. Get back to me when were 5 games in on the conference slate.

Edwards will only get better. Our O-line struggled in my opinion by not having Irwin. Frazier will be in quite a bit as a TE which will help with blocking.

Miami is not ready to say anything definitive in the football forum? Shocking!

Last year had all the veteran starters in place to be way ahead of the curve in September. This year, I see a team with the talent to be better in the last third of the season than it was in the first third.

I was worried about how thin we are at ILB and running back prior to Friday. Now I'm also worried about DB depth and OL depth. Imagine if we lost Oliver or Udofia for a stretch. Got to build up some experience in the backups quickly.

Pac12 is also going to be a bitch this year.

I think 6 wins and a bowl. I think 11 wins and a NY6B in 2018.

Are you putting it out there that were something special? That were gonna win something? Like, say, the south?

I do not think we win the South, but I think the gap between USC and everyone else is not as big as expected.

As far as the game, it was more than okay for an opening game. I did not expect a dominant performance out of the gate.

Yeah. Were in about the same place then. I'd liked to have seen us light up the score board more to say we *could* win the south. I like that we only gave up 3 points but I also have to think that the refs, unfortunately, played a part in that. Still, a good defense does get you places. Maybe we have that. Maybe we dont. I am highly concerned about the 2nd and 3rd games being too weak before playing a preseason top 10 team. Though they play Montana and Fresno next so maybe we will be ok.

I agree with these points. We will be better, but there are 8-10 teams that are elite in the trenches and we're not one of them, even with substantial improvement. USC or UW will have to have a meltdown or we'll have to play out of our gourds to beat them.

I don't view Washington as a make or break game. The game against UCLA is bigger and will tell more. Getting USC at home may end up being pretty big (along with both teams having no bye weeks between now and then).

I think people are reading a bit too much into USC's first game.

Maybe. Their schedule is not conducive to a young defense though with no bye weeks until potentially the weekend before the Pac-12 Championship.

I'm with ya. I just think the csu showed us very little on the future offensively this year. Don't have us beating UW or USC either but it's not impossible.
