Had heard about this, but didn't post anything initially since I didn't know if they had done everything necessary to make the times official***, but sounds like the 4 minute mile barrier has
finally gone down on Colorado soil, and 1 of the 2 who beat that time was recent Buff grad
Joe Klecker. (Recent Wisconsin grad and new On teammate Olliver Hoare won the race in 3:56:8, while Mr. Klecker ran 3:58:4. Impressive range for the Buff grad, who I believe will probably be running longer distances when it comes to major races and things like trying to make an Olympic team. Mr. Hoare, meanwhile, probably (at least based on his collegiate career) will primarily be a 1500M/ mile runner.)
Congrats to Mr. Klecker and the On team of which he is now part!
(***I'm still not
100% sure the times
will count in record books, but am assuming they
may be official since the article linked to below do mention the times were "certified". Did want to note that there was a fun twitter conversation for awhile mentioning that another former Buff great, Jorge Torres, may have
unofficially run under 4:00 in Boulder during a workout back in his prime (assume late 1990's/ early 2000's), but that was not part of any official race, so doesn't count.)

No runner had ever run a mile in less than four minutes in the state of Colorado—until now.
In a certified intrasquad time trial on Monday, August 3, Olli Hoare and Joe Klecker, of the newly formed
On Athletics Club, became the first two people to ever run a
sub-four-minute mile in Colorado, finishing in 3:56:8 and 3:58:4, respectively. This time trial came after only a month of team workouts for the newest pro running group.
Klecker—a standout at the University of Colorado-Boulder, who took second at the 2019 NCAA cross country championships—was the first to sign with the team earlier this summer.
On worked to set up the new group around Klecker, considering his input on where the team should be based, who should be the coach, and who else should be on the team.

When giving info on Mr. Klecker's new pro contract and team in my last prior post, forgot to mention another big CU connection. His new coach (and the overall coach of the On Team) is #ForeverBuff great
Dathan Ritzenhein (nickname Ritz), who officially retired as a pro runner withing the last few months.
More on his becoming the coach of this new team can be found at the article linked to in the below tweet.
