Ralphie named Best Mascot by Sporting News

Live mascots should be banned. They are as abused about as bad as circus monkeys.
 
Nosejob - I would be willing to bet that most, if not all of the LIVE animal collage mascots recieve far better treatment than you do.

When it comes right down to it, Ralphie has little competiton from the other "LIVE" animal mascots.
 
Ralphie is actually one very lucky buffalo I think. She hangs out on a ranch with other buffaloes on a ranch for 98% of the year and on 6 or 7 days a year she spends a total of maybe 6 hours either at the game or going to or from. Unlike Bevo, she doesn't get drugged and put on display on the sidelines or put into a cage or anything like that. She will be provided for all her life thanks to various bequests and donations and when she retires, she does the exact same thing but without the 6 or 7 days of work. I just don't see how any of that adds up to abuse. That's a live mascot even PETA can get behind.
 
I can't speak for the new Ralphie, but Ralphie IV loved to run. Apparently if she were permitted, she would just run circles around Folsom while the crowd cheered. The runners struggled to direct her to the trailer at the end of the run, she was so fired up.

I just remember the spring game last year to remember Ralphie V's love of running.
 
I heard on of the previous Ralphies died after they were training her to run short distances at full speed, similar to what running in Folsom would be. She was tied to a truck, they forgot her rear legs were hobbled before they hit the gas. Went about 6 miles up a winding road. Heart failure/heat injury/burns from the exhaust. Possibly groin pull.
 
And not a very good one. I sure hope the trolls get better once the season's here.
 
You'll have to forgive nosejob, he's a little irritable. He was a$$-raped by a Buffalo back in November 2001 and hasn't been the same since.

Hard to imagine someone whose team's mascot is the Stay Puft marshmallow man in overalls and a red hat goofin' on Ralphie.
