The Buffs hero didn’t play much but a ring is a ring!
Six months into her professional career, Colorado Buffaloes star Jaylyn Sherrod has won a WNBA Championship with the New York Liberty.
Sherrod didn’t appear in the Liberty’s 3-2 series win over the Minnesota Lynx, but she made it onto the court in previous rounds against the Las Vegas Aces and Atlanta Dream. It’s okay if she didn’t do much to win the ring, because we know she’s a fierce competitor, a natural leader and a championship-caliber teammate.
The zero-star recruit from Birmingham, Alabama has already accomplished so much in her career. She was the heart and soul of JR Payne’s Buffs, leading them to back-to-back Sweet Sixteen appearances. She did everything to put the program back on the maps after twenty years of mediocrity.
After five years in Boulder, Sherrod grinded her way from a training camp invite to the practice squad a one-year contract with New York. It doesn’t matter how many points she scored or teammates she assisted. With Jaylyn it’s about the energy she brings, the intensity on defense, and the will to win at any costs.
Congrats, Jaylyn, no one deserves this more than you.
