Sheppard is headed to the Frozen Tundra
After a strange couple of months, Will Sheppard officially has a home.
The former Colorado wide receiver has put pen to paper, inking a three-year rookie deal with the Green Bay Packers. After initially going undrafted and getting claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the deal fell through after Sheppard failed his physical. That’s all in the past now, as he’s now cleared and set to compete on a Green Bay team that can use all the help at receiver as they can get.
Sheppard’s deal is worth $2.97 million over three years with no signing bonus. He’ll make $840,000 in 2025, $1.1 million in 2026 and $1.12 million in 2027 before hitting restricted free agency in 2028. All three years come with zero dead cap, which means this is a year-to-year evaluation for the Packers. There are no guarantees, but no real risk either.
It’s certainly not an ideal start for Sheppard, but it’s an opportunity. If he can stay healthy and flash some of what fans saw at Colorado and Vanderbilt, the Packers could have a real depth threat on their hands.
