We’re getting Friday Night Lights at Folsom Field this August.

The Colorado Buffaloes will kick off their season in the spotlight for the third consecutive season.

CU’s week one matchup against the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets on Friday, August 29, will kick off at 6:00 pm and be broadcast nationally on ESPN, the network announced on Tuesday.

The Buffs are no stranger to the spotlight, as nearly every single game of theirs has been broadcast on a national network since the arrival of Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders before the 2023 season. Now, after the departures of superstars like Shedeur Sanders and Heisman winner Travis Hunter, it appears the Buffs aren’t losing any of their luster.

This matchup against Georgia Tech holds extra significance to Colorado fans, as it marks the 35th anniversary of the 1990 season, when the Buffs and Yellowjackets split the national title. Colorado won the AP Poll, while Georgia Tech won the Coaches Poll.

Now, three decades later, the two squads get the opportunity to hash it out at Folsom Field. The back half of the home-and-home deal between the two schools is scheduled to take place in Atlanta during week one of the 2026 season.

Get ready for some Friday Night Lights at Folsom Field this August, folks! Football season is getting closer!
