The problem with your argument is that we should have beat UCLA on Thursday. I think that is why the board was so upset and so doom and gloom about it. We have won every other game this year where we were in a position to win. Our defense was suffocating against UCLA. They kept the #6 scoring team in the nation to almost 20pts under their average. They played too erratic on offense though and that is why we lost. We missed something like 15 shots at the basket when you account for layups and missed put backs and only shot 58% from the charity stripe. They hit half of those shots and we win that game hands down.

We should have won that game. Period. The team knows it and the fans that watch the game will see that it was within our grasp even with as bad as we were playing on offense until we had to start fouling at the end.

A lot of people took it as a good sign that the Buffs were in that position against UCLA that soon after losing Mayor.

I think there were some inexcusable stretches in that game, that was masked by the fact we were playing the worst team in the league at home. I don't think we played as well as you think we did.

Do you really expect a team to play great for 40 minutes? That's completely unrealistic to expect, it's even more unrealistic to expect a team who lost it's best player a few games before where you are trying to find what lineups work best in less than a week.

Lets say every day some random person punches you in the face. Do you focus on the 99.9999% of the time your face didn't get punchercized and think how great your day is, or do you try to get people to stop punching your face for that one second a day?

One thing I do think that was going on, though, is that Tad was trying to show a new wrinkle to UA and ASU. If Wes and Josh can knock down some jump shots it will move those opposing bigs away from the hoop and open things up. Could be a big key to both of these games.

Scott said the same thing in the post game presser. I think I am going to have a stroke if I see another buff take a 2 point jumper with their foot on the 3 point line.

I don't think we should've beaten UCLA. I know people get caught up with their emotions and say they "out-efforted" us. They were the better team on Thursday, plain and simple. They won and they deserved too. We were clearly not the better team.

I didn't say they out-efforted us. I said we sucked on offense. All things the same, we play the offense game we did saturday against the Bruins and we win. We were down 6pts the entire game because our defense kept us in it. Without your best perimeter defender and moving your best interior defender to the perimeter, that is a damn good performance.

I'm really not sure about that, the fact is USC didn't give us much competition. I really don't think we looked as good as most others on the board. I'm not even sure we beat them with Spencer. UCLA isn't a push-over. Yeah sorry for not sticking to the narrative with we have four more wins with Spencer and that's one of them.

I am pretty sure with spencer playing we would be 6-0, heading into Tucson as a top 10 team for an epic thursday night matchup.

There isn't a doubt in my mind that we beat UCLA if Spencer plays. Anderson becomes a 'better' matchup and in likelihood we would have shot a lot more FTs and Spencer would be responsible for this and with that comes a higher FT%

I said not necessarily. I think we beat them, but I'm not absolutely shocked if we lose to them. I know you thought we were going undefeated at home. I thought we were in store for 1-2 losses.

KU >>> UCLA

Winning on the road is extremely tough, winning on the road in Boulder is even tougher. KenPom had us losing one at home against Arizona with Spencer playing, by the way. I really think you're undervaluing Spencer and how much he changes games.

:nod: Losing sucked but there were some positives from thurs night. Did notice against USC that Hopkins was playing better defense. Doing a better job of keeping his man in front of him and wasn't getting burned on the first step. Its things like this we should looking for. Still a young roster.

He was moving his feet and not just his hands. He is learning quickly. He is a good player and he is going to be a star for us. Just young and inexperienced.

Ok I get your transitive property argument. We lost to ASU at home last year.

And I think we beat UofA at home with Spencer. I'm still holding out hope for the UofA home game. If GameDay comes to Boulder, we play better than expected, that game will be unmatched in the history of Coors by a long shot.

You're probably right in me undervaluing Spencer, I still think this team is very good without him. I think we're worse, but not as bad as some people do.

We were also a much better team this year with Spencer than we were last year when we lost to ASsU

Am I disagreeing with you. Do you understand just because you beat Team A at home (UofA) doesn't mean you'll beat Team B at home (ASU)?

Yes, but the point was we've beaten better teams at home than UCLA when Spencer was healthy this year

Dude, our damn ranking is next to each game. We peaked at #28 prior to the Georgia game. We were #34 when we played Washington and Spencer got hurt.

And that doesn't mean you are going to beat every team worse than KU at home even with Spencer -- teams do have good and bad nights. By the other side of the coin, had they lost to KU, would that mean we couldn't beat a better team at home, not necessarily.

You mean the only team on our schedule this year that's got less experience than us? Because if we can use lack of experience as an excuse at times, so can they. And the team that we actually match up well with? Not UCLA who is without a doubt the worst matchup for us on the entire schedule? Is that the one team that you're talking about?
