I wasn't aware SMU and Tech played next season, but given the pussified OOC schedules that Leach lines up every year, he'll probably try to get out of playing an SMU team that wins games every now and then. SMU is probably the best OOC team he's played in 5 yrs.
What proof has been offered that the kid was locked in a shed? As far as I have been able to find, the kid was put into a training room and then into a press room. Both of which had bathrooms.
I sense Tech is going to pay out a damn sight more than they calculated - Leach fired guns via a taped interview yesterday saying he was going after "all parties" to the fullest extent of the law. I speculate that will be inclusive of James, ESPN and Tech.

Shed, closet, training room, does it really matter? When you respond to a concussion by locking a player in a room and forcing him to stand there for hours with "medical staff" (read guards) posted outside the door, something is not right. You would think people would be taking concussions seriously these days, but I guess not. It was a clearly punitive move.

I don't buy the story, he could just ask for a release instead of going through all of this.
Just get craig james off espn/abc and doing bowl games. He has no business being there at this time.

Again I have a problem with the wording of the scenario. From what I have seen bantered around: 1. James was not "locked" anywhere, 2. It was not a super small room - rather they were darkened facilities (with a bathroom, so James would have had space to move), and 3. Staff were present inside the room, rather than outside.
The discrepencies between the parties (Pony Jr and Sr, Tech administration, and training staff) lead me to suspect that James' account is sensationalized. It DOES make a big difference the particulars, as one response is reckless, and the other a rather normal response.
From what I gather, James did ask for one, and it was denied. Subsequently, he took footage of a closet. There is some great debate as to whether that was the location Leach asked him to be in.
I second that. It appears to me that Pony Sr. is singlehandedly responsible for crushing two great programs.
Sure seems like it. IMHO, it looks bad when spoiled coaches son and dad get coach fired and then james is on doing his bowl games and playing the victim . I understand the parent aspect of it but Tech moved awful quickly on this.

Comical...James did not single-handedly bring down SMU (assuming that is what you meant).....![]()
I agree. It appears that Tech made absolutely no attempt to fact gather. Instead, they shoved a paper in front of Leach demanding that he sign it in which he admits guilt for the James incident. It could be that it went down exactly as James said - either way, I favor establishing fact first.
