just received this email from Benson's office- Not athletic donations, but maybe he can get some things turned around with athletic funding. Also makes me think that there has to be some alums out there that can donate in the $1-$5 million range.

Dear
When you step back and consider the impact of the successful conclusion of the University of Colorado's $1.5 billion Creating Futures fundraising campaign, it can be viewed in simple terms: Your contributions have made CU a better place and, in turn, we are able to improve the lives of individuals and make our world a better place.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you who contributed, whether it was your money, your time, or your advocacy for the university. It has been an honor and a privilege for us to chair Creating Futures, the second comprehensive campaign we have chaired for CU. It brought in more private support than any campaign in CU history.
While the outcome of the campaign is compelling, it doesn't capture the scope of the more than seven-year effort. That emerges as we look more deeply at the numbers and in the thousands of stories of impact and value added. Some 158,000 donors made nearly 404,000 gifts to CU. They came from all 50 states and 79 countries. We created nearly 450 new scholarship funds, a 40 percent increase since 2006, the same percentage increase as the number of new endowed faculty chairs (46).
One of the more significant statistics is that CU's endowment increased from $595.5 million in 2006 to $937.5 million today. While we need to move that into the billions, it will still help us sustain excellence into the future.
Contributions helped us establish research centers in fields critical to our society, including cancer treatment, energy, biotechnology and public health. Our donors support the work of CU faculty and students who are among the leading minds in the world, and whose inquiry and innovations advance knowledge and improve lives.
Creating Futures also helped us change the face of CU's four campuses. Some 76 new facilities funds were created during the campaign.
There are thousands of stories that illustrate how gifts large and small make a difference at CU. Some snapshots are illustrative.
While it is important for us to pause to celebrate this milestone, we also must keep one eye on the future. Needs remain. State funding is tenuous. Tuition cannot sustain continued increases. Research funds are pinched. So we are revamping our fundraising efforts to take us to the next level to ensure a critical margin of excellence at CU.
But for now, we will enjoy the success of Creating Futures and extend our personal thank you to everyone who made it possible. You have made CU a better place, which helps make our state, nation and world better places.
Sincerely,

There are thousands of stories that illustrate how gifts large and small make a difference at CU. Some snapshots are illustrative.
- The Anschutz Foundation, the campaign's largest donor, gave more than $57 million during the campaign (and more than $130 million lifetime), helping us establish the CU Anschutz Medical Campus as one of the world's foremost health care research, education and clinical care facilities. It is also one of the largest economic development projects in the West.
- CU-Boulder Distinguished Professor Marvin Caruthers gave the lead gift for the Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building, which benefited from $45 million in total private support, where some of the best and brightest faculty and students from across the CU system have created "research neighborhoods" in a cross-disciplinary approach to fostering innovation in biotechnology.
- Businessman Jake Jabs gave $10 million, the largest gift in CU Denver history, to establish the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at the Business School to increase the scope of the school's Business Plan competition and related entrepreneurship programs.
- At our Colorado Springs campus, an anonymous donor contributed $5.5 million to student scholarships. It was not only the campus's largest gift ever, but UCCS was one of eight universities nationwide to receive contributions from the unknown donor.
