Rocky Mountain Showdown - News & Updates

Tell me about it.

Quick story: Went to New Orleans for a bachelor party last year on the RMS weekend with all those said CSU friends. We went to Manning's bar and ended up watching the LSU/Auburn game there which was a blast. The Alabama/Ole Miss game came on right after and the place threw a huge watch party, so we requested the CU/CSU game be put on one of the TVs off to the side. They put us in our own corner with a pretty decent TV (no sound) as the only spot in the place with the RMS on. It was at that moment, amid all of our back and forth celebrations, surrounded by staring Bama and Ole Miss fans, that I realized how irrelevant college football in Colorado really is. :( Cool story bro

Maybe all the Plantation talk can be effectively leveraged in that part of the country to improve CU's profile?

I rewatched the CSU game the other night. One reoccurring thing that stood out to me was the missed tackles for loss on defense. At least 7 times we had a defender hit their RB behind the line of scrimmage. On each of those plays the RB broke the tackle and ended up with a decent gain (6 to 9 yards). Somethings I noticed:

It was never the same player. It happened to several guys.
The CSU line seemed to block to let one guy have a shot. They held their blocks allowing the RB to have the ability to get yards even after he was stopped in the backfield.
The plays normally happened on first or second down, leaving CSU in a second or third and short.
The missed tackles would have been huge plays leaving CSU in terrible down/distance situation

If we are going to put together a quality win this year the D needs to make those tackles.

I remember Carrell having that issue a couple times that game but hopefully he and Tupou can take care of that problem. Jimmy Gilbert also needs to play like the athlete he is.

Ol' Kiz took a shot at the Rammies pipe dreams of joining the Big 12. You know where to find him if you are interested.

Kiz likes to kick a dog when it's down. I'm past dislike or animosity for CSU and have moved on to pity. They tried. They failed. They're in massive debt with a football stadium that will be an anchor on their AD budget for the next 30 years. On one hand, I'm glad to see they gave it an effort. On the other hand, it would have been prudent for them to recognize it was a fools errand.

However, CSU has their own "Drive for 105" and are almost there. They've reached $90,000 in an effort to get to $105,000.

No need to be assholes. Last I heard they had raised something like $50MM of the $250MM price of the stadium. Most of that was probably due to Jack Graham, though.

Yes. Yes there is a need to be an asshole. I still remember Van Smelt, or whatever his name was, spiking the ball in our face. I also remember the csu (male) student sucker punching my daughter and knocking her to the ground. So, yeah, I have a need to be an asshole.

Wow, some dude sucker punches my daughter, he better pray I don't ever find him.

At that same game in '02, I had pizza thrown at me by a CSU student and was basically challenged to a fight by a drunk, female CSU student. All I could do was gently remove her from my space with my forearm, because, you know, female. And honestly, who wastes pizza? So, yeah **** Baylor and **** Nebraska. But seriously, **** CSU.

I just don't think they're worth my ire any longer. Their program is DOA. They shot their wad and missed. Sucks to be them.

Agreed. I run into Ram fans all the time who are passionate in their hatred of CU. It is infinitely more fun to make them feel stupid by being bemused at how passionate they are about it.

They are not worthy of hatred from us. It is what they want more than anything.

They are actually doing ok. The QB has a huge amount of SE regional small school offers. Bobo has a good QB rep, so ok with that one.

Most of their commits have a lot of offers and I'd have expected them to be doing worse. Tapping GA/FL heavy is a good strategy.

I have seen pretty bad behavior from both student sections. Cringe worthy.
Prolly just posing as CU students. Why, I saw some CU students helping an old lady 'braska fan to her seat once. Unfortunately they didn't catch her when she stumbled. She was prolly drunk. I even saw a bunch of CU students helping out Tom Osborn when the batteries to his head set died. Students were actually throwing him THEIR batteries. It was really classy.
