Agree, the Sefo injury is too convenient. The red zone play calling is the narrative I've settled on for last year. It's like BL has us going between the 20s, but then he is calling plays as though our weaknesses magically become our strengths once we're inside the 20. I've tried to understand it from an OC perspective, and a major limitation he had to work within was a beat up (read 'ultimately ineffective') O line. But other times last year I was left thinking, why is he asking us to run between the tackles when clearly that isn't going to work with our O line? Seems to me there were numerous wasted red zone plays because of that kind of play calling. We ended up kicking a field goal when we should've put up 7, and then still came up empty because Diego wasn't kicking from his favorite hash. Frustrated even now just thinking about how ineffective we were in the red zone last year. Mac's mantra of players make plays and players win games is true in a way for his OC too. His OC had better improve his red zone play calling this year, or I'll be calling for BL's head. If Mac won't get rid of BL, then Mac and BL both can go coach with Dave Forman. But for the record, I'd like to retain them both if we see a number of W's due to a big improvement in red zone play calling this year. Jacked for the RMS. Hoping we start this season right.
