I said this same statement on another board...."That's so sad, but it's so selfish at the same time?" I was almost castrated for it..........I feel bad for the guy, but at the same time I can't think of anything bad enough that would want to make me kill myself. It's too bad he couldn't have gotten some help sooner.

You don't think Husker fans went through real physiological depression after 62-36?That's because you've probably never been through real physiological depression. It's not a rational experience.

I stand corrected....No, that's just soul crushing sorrow and disbelief. Purely psychological phenomena.
And the fact he was living in the greatest city on earth? Why didn't he just fall back on his ISU degree?

so many here racing to the lowest common denominator... this thread sucks. This is a horrible tragic event, not a time to jab at a degree or city or a score.
Suicide sucks. Hicks offed himself by jumping off an overpass on to an interstate. He succeeded in traumatizing his family, his friends, his community. My heart goes out to his sphere of influence. By jumping into traffic, he put strangers in uncessary danger.
So don't even get all preachy with some neg rep moral highground.
The holidays can be stressful, loosing a dream to play football is hard to take, some find Nebraska in the winter to be depressing, and some do believe that a college degree should be something to fall back upon. It is what it is.
Some real classy individuals here.
