Sefo had a bad game, but this play was beautiful

No doubt. And 11 of his completions were to Lindsay. Pretty much nothing allowed by UCLA's defense or made to happen down field.
I'm concerned with our apparent inability to get receivers open. To me, that's on our coaches.

Not sure I totally buy this narrative anymore. If the offense still struggles next week and Sefo looks bad, I think you have to potentially look at making a change. Starting to become an ugly trend.

To me, our offense has looked a lot like last year against USC, Stanford and UCLA. All of the above were stout up front against the run and all could get a good pass rush, without a lot of blitzing. Our WR's struggled to get open and Sefo bails out of the pocket early. Essentially, everyone looks bad when you are losing the LOS battle up front.

Here's something that's an outlier to me after last night:
Utah 52
UCLA 45

Huh?

I think the only thing that might explain that game was Mora & staff going crazy off script and passing 70 times. Everything went wonky, including the UCLA front 7 getting worn out.

So Sefo can be accurate or inaccurate on any given game. IDK what causes that but it's a fact.

It could be that Chiv assumes that the QB is masterful in the Air Raid and would call any play given that fact and the game context.

It could be that BL is a bit more thoughtful after coaching Sefo for awhile now and just might need more computation time considering that McKinley is in our backfield on every play and Sefo cannot react the same way Mahomes or Webb did.

If they are not on the same page they better get there. Especially at home where tempo is a tangible factor against sea-level dwellers.

Can we get someone from maybe Scout, BSN ,or JG to ask why we didn't do the hurry up offense?

I would sure like to know the reasoning behind it.

Interesting. Didn't get to watch this one but have noticed a strong correlation between tempo and offensive success all season long

When you rush your QB as much as we did he has to have time to "catch his breath".

Go to 1:45. Escaping that sack was amazing, but calling for the facemask then completing the ball to Lindsay for a first down while fighting off a DE? Boss.

The amazing part is the ref he gestured at wasn't even the one to throw the flag. smh

Fox took tons of long time outs. The game was a series of short bursts of play followed by standing on a cold night. Any flow from a hurry up was thwarted by a 3 min injury timeout.

My understanding on the tempo thing is it is mainly dictated by what they do on 1st down. CU wasn't as effective on 1st down as usual vs Ucla.

Every time it looked like they were going to go hurry up Sefo would clap, for the snap, then look at the sideline for the play.

First down efficiency, or lack there of, seems like the best reason so far.

Yep. Tempo offense works only when you stay on schedule on 1st down and are getting 1st downs to keep things moving. Off schedule means off script.
