Sefo Liufau 2016 Buffalo Heart Award Winner

He deserves this so much. Congratulations, Sefo!

Crazy thing is how many other guys who would have been obvious winners in any other year. For instance, a guy like Tedric Thompson who almost had to retire from football after that head injury in the UCLA game a couple years ago... and then turning in a senior year like he has.

What a senior class in 2016!

They ought to rename the award the "Sefo Buffalo Heart" Award. We've had some wonderful people come through and win this award, but I can't think of a guy that personifies what it represents more than Sefo has this year. We aren't the most talented team; we don't have the super-stars that a lot of the teams we faced had. We have a leader in Sefo and the other Seniors who willed this team to 10 wins.

This has been an amazing season.

Excellent toughness and leadership that we saw from him even before his 20th birthday. Part of the attitude shift in the locker room. He set the table for others who will follow his example, like a certain in-state RB who should be the favorite to win the award next year.

Helluva senior season!

Dude was always tough as nails, but he persisted even during his play last year which has regressed a bit. That opened him up to some criticism, but he did what he had to do. Even with the talk of a transfer QB he didn't shut down and pack it in. What a ****ing gamer. He played through so many injuries I really hope is fine for th rest of his days.

Above his toughness though I think it's his leadership that will leave a legacy. Dude lived and died for his team and his teammates never ceased to gush about how good everyone else played. Incredibly humble. Guys at his position at few and far between. It's an egomaniacs position at times and he never really relished it.

It's been a pleasure to watch him these past 3 years in person (moved 2 football seasons ago back). Not because of his growth as a QB, but because of his growth into a man.

Well done Sefo.

Well deserved by Sefo.

Gary B commented that the winners ought to be: #1a Sefo, #1b Phillip Lindsay
We don't know how the players view each other, or who really provides the spirit, but I think GB does. Nice tribute to Lindsay.

It's for a Senior. He's a lock to win next year

Thanks Sefo and congratulations. Well deserved young man. You will be missed and have set the bar for toughness kinda high... Loved having Sefo.

Can't really add to what everyone else has already posted, other than this was a no-brainer. Congrats Sefo ... and thank you.
