Sefo Liufau Pac 12 Offensive Player of The Week

In Samoan, "Sefo Liufau" translates into English as "pick six" or "stuffed in the red zone "Heroic Warrior" or "Buffalo Heart."

Now it's your turn. What does Sefo Liufau mean to you?

This is the easiest pick the Pac league office has had all year. Biggest game of the season and you go 300+ in the air and 100+ on the ground with 3 tds. Done freaking great deal except the formality of announcing it

“Sefo, he is a dog,” Phil Lindsay said. “You got to be a dog in this game, period. That man puts his body on the line, day in and day out, he has to take the most criticism, he has to remember everything on the field, he has to tell me what to do half the time, there are no words that I can say to express my feelings towards that man, that dude is the man and my guy to the end and I’ve told him that and I just want to let him know again. He’s our leader, we’re going to ride with him.”

I nominate Phil Lindsay for Buff spokesman. Every time he speaks, you can just hear the love he has for this team and his teammates. It's going to be great to have his leadership again next year.

This is the second time he's moved me (differently than Nik's preview moves me) with the complete awesomeness of his quotes.

Is 350/100/3/0 enough versus McCaffrey's 31/284/3?

If Sefo played against Cal's D, he'd have 500 yards passing and 200 rushing. Running up numbers against that D isn't hard. I've never seen so many arm tacklers in my life with their team. It's like they try to avoid contact.

The only regret I have of this season, is that we didn't get a chance to play Cal. I think the team would have really enjoyed that.

Hey, the Buffs did their part to try to make it happen. Cal won the offseason, but they won't even have bowl practices this December.

Sefo got 300/100 for the second time in CU QB history, equaling his backup from a few games ago, who got a PAC-12 POW for that effort. Isn't this fun?

Well, we are 9-2, but Montez won OSU and UO, so Sefo has won 7 games as the starter. He has to win out to get there.

In 1971, we won 10 games, but it doesn't say how many games each QB played in (K Johnson was the primary starter)
In 1989, Hagan played in 11 games and we went 11-1
In 1990, both Hagan and CJ played in 12 games, and we went 11-1-1
In 1994, Kordell started 11 games and we went 10-1 in his starts (Detmer started and won the imfaous "asterisk" game against OU)
In 1995, Hessler played in 11 games, and we went 10-2
In 1996, Detmer played in 11 games, and we went 10-2
In 2001, we won 10 games, but neither Ochs or Pesavanto played in all 10.
Asterisk game was against Texas A&M, and was with Hesler at QB . 95?

Schnellenberger uttered the controversial quote a week ago on his radio show, while noting that starting CU quarterback Koy Detmer wouldn't play against the Sooners because of a knee injury suffered the week before against Texas A&M. "I would prefer Detmer play," Schnellenberger said. "Our football team would prefer Detmer play. I don't want a damn asterisk when we beat their ass. "
You are right that it was 1995, but it was definitely OU and Schnellenberger.

I think they said Sefo is only the second player in history to pass for 300, run for 100 and score 3 TD's. I think they said Lamar Jackson is the other.

I think it was second player in CU history - the first for CU was Montez @Oregon earlier this year. I don't have stats but I think there are lots of college QBs who have thrown for 300+ and rushed for 100+

Yes on the 300/100, but there was something I also saw with Sefo's stats and 3 rushing tds also in the mix. 2nd player ever, iirc.

Look at the stats. Sefo owned Falk but the discussion seems to be how good Falk is and Sefo's struggles. Not sure I know why but Sefo is a really good P5 QB.

Sefo didn't play against Falk.

For as good as our defense was I thought Falk was scary good. His timing and throws were on time and were accurate. We benefited from some of his guys dropping passes.

That said, Sefos running was fantastic. He slid more (yay!) and knew when to run. Falk seemed pretty slow, but he had plenty of time in the pocket at times.

Falk 26/53 (49%) 325 yds TDs 3 1 INT QBR 85.4 Yds rushing -4
Liufau 27/41 (66%) 345 yds TDs 3 0 INT QBR 52.6 Yds rushing 108

Liufau: Offensive Player of the Week Falk: nada, zero, zilch
Liufau >>>> Falk...at least this game....

I believe the point was that Falk played a much tougher defense

True dat. I did get tired of people hyping WSU's D so much...they are decent but because Leach has a decent D people seemed to overhype it cuz his Ds always suck....

Our D is really good. Holding that team to 24 points and 462 yards is quite an achievement. And I do think Falk is a much better passer and will probably play (or at least hold a clip board) in the NFL. Sefo will be watching the NFL on TV like the rest of us...but he is a much better team leader.

Not really. Our D is something special, but it was never Falk vs Sefo. QBs don't play against each other. It's something that always bothers me (e.g. Manning vs Brady).

Both had good games. When Falks OL fell apart in the 4th the game was over. Our OL was getting to the second level.

Falk's OL hardly fell apart, he was getting similar pressure to what Sefo did most of the game. Sefo had a 92 NFL passer rating against pressure (better than when he had time), while Falk had a 41. That's the difference between the two.
