And the pick they used on Gabriel for a supporting player.I will never get over the fact that Cleveland could have had Hunter and Sanders
Not accurate enough for Canada. With only 3 downs the QB has to be accurate. Doesn't have to have a gun, lots of stuff opens up in the middle of the field but can't waste throws.Funny. I saw Gabriel as a guy who might be able to play in Canada with his ultimate upside being a very poor man's Doug Flutie.
Not accurate enough for the CFL and you think you can couple that with 5'10", small hands, and low success rate throwing on the move... and it adds up to a decade long NFL career? Not accurate enough for Canada. Shedeur would kill it up there but he is good enough for the NFL.
If somehow he ends up in Canada it will be Warren Moon 2nd edition, a guy who never should have been there but ended up there for non-football reasons.

Thanks. Seems strange 1s playing much, if at all, in these early preseason games. I hope 12 plays well.Read on the 247 Browns site, posted by a Mod.

NFL has a serious lack of backup QBs. Look at Denver. Stidham can't play, Ehlinger is worse yet both continue to have jobs. Not accurate enough for the CFL and you think you can couple that with 5'10", small hands, and low success rate throwing on the move... and it adds up to a decade long NFL career?![]()
I see your full field reads and raise you this. The first 1:30 is a perfect example of halving the field to make reads easier on a QB. It works when you're stacked and playing lesser opponents. Not so much when you're playing OSU or NFL caliber players. Many teams do it to simplify things for their QB. Hell, even Baker Mayfield admitted this was something he had to overcome when he got to the league. He had to make full field reads at Oregon. Moreso than many guys in this class, especially someone like Ward and especially Dart.
Size and length showed up on film playing for stacked Oregon. You knew it would be an issue but so did muddy pocket and the throwing on the move is why I was shocked Cleveland saw him as a potential franchise guy. I just felt his ceiling was always top end backup.

Baker had a 1st round grade. Dillion had a 4th round grade. A 4th round grade is top end backup at best.
"Past arm soreness issue resolved with treatment."Stefanski interview notes:
### Friday Preseason Game Approach
- Most starters will rest for the game
- Shedeur confirmed as starting quarterback
- Snoop Huntley signed yesterday as backup QB
- Only these two QBs will play in game
- Huntley catching up on terminology after being in different offenses
- Opportunity focused on younger players getting reps
### Player Injury/Availability Status
- Dillon and Kenny limited to 7-on-7 only, being cautious
- Jerry Jeudy and Amari Cooper won’t play Friday
- All other receivers will see action
### Joint Practice Strategy
- No game planning against Panthers - solving “uncounted looks” on sideline
- Keeping offensive concepts simple so players can play fast
- Mix of ones vs. twos, twos vs. ones throughout practice
- Focus on trusting what players see and sideline discussions
### Quarterback Preparation
- Shedeur has worked with all different centers and offensive line combinations
- Past arm soreness issue resolved with treatment
- Expectation is for all players to translate practice performance to game situations
- Preseason games should feel like extension of practice
Hope this happens. Hope he is able to get the hell out of Cleveland.Well, he isn't gonna go against all starters obviously. He needs to play well Friday getting the start, though. What it does for his future in Cleveland, I could give a ****. He plays well, somebody will pick him up. Keeping Gabriel would be very Cleveland. That and having a senior citizen as your starter.
Worked well for Hackett.I doubt most teams play many starters during preseason. Maybe some potential starters who are competing for the job but established guys just don’t play much in preseason now.
It’s not some conspiracy to put Shedeur in a bad spot.
An athletic Gabriel = Johnny Manziel.Yah Gabriel is too short. If he was athletic it would be different but he’s not. Lifetime back up QB at best
Not calling them smart, but if SS performs, taking him in the 5th when nobody else did simply makes everyone else look stupid.Calling the Browns front office and coaching staff "smart" is an interesting take.

Panthers starters to play first 2 preseason games
Panthers coach Dave Canales said Friday that Carolina starters, including QB Bryce Young, will play in the first two preseason games, an about face to the team's approach last season.www.espn.com
The Browns may sprinkle in some starters, but Shedeur will likely be playing with mostly the 2nd string.
Let me say it again, the Cleveland coaching staff will do everything they can to make Sanders look bad under the guise of, "We're just trying to keep things simple and let the players play."Thanks.
If he ends up being good, it doesn’t really absolve Cleveland or make the rest of the league look stupid, it mostly just vindicates the people who think the league colluded to ensure he fell in the draft, since he was widely considered a first round talent by most scouts and draft experts. Not calling them smart, but if SS performs, taking him in the 5th when nobody else did simply makes everyone else look stupid.
I find it hard to believe they would pick him if they wanted him to fail from the beginning. I think you’re going off the deep end hereLet me say it again, the Cleveland coaching staff will do everything they can to make Sanders look bad under the guise of, "We're just trying to keep things simple and let the players play."
Shedeur is getting the standard late round QB treatment. Developmental QB that will have to scrap his way to reps. That’s why it’s so important to get drafted early. It takes years for the first round shine to wear off. Look at Pickett. Hasn’t been good, but still getting opportunities and reps.I find it hard to believe they would pick him if they wanted him to fail from the beginning. I think you’re going off the deep end here
Unreal, want to chew on that for the next two decadesI will never get over the fact that Cleveland could have had Hunter and Sanders
I think you ard correct.Gabriel will never make it in the nfl, why ade you all so kind? He blows, and in my opinion lacks character in all dimensions (easiest read is jumping ard teams looking for a fit and then strinking out lucky…not something you build a team ard). I’ll call it now, his career will end with max 8 starts in the nfl.
