Shedeur Sanders - 2023-25 Tracking History Thread - Drafted by the Cleveland Browns (NFL)

Got to see the Browns game on replay. SS12 looked good, that first TD was a tight window and he nailed it. Only saw one time he retreated away from the LOS the way he did at CU, but he threw that one away. Overall, I thought he looked good. So of course, the Browns will keep the midget from Oregon in front of him on the depth chart.

I haven't watched NFL for years. When did they go to that idiotic KO alignment? Looked like middle school PE class.

I’m waiting for Sudden Death Dodge Ball OT.

That would be something I'd watch. I doubt they even let kids play dodge ball anymore. One little trick I used was lob one because the way we played you were out if they caught it. Only problem is they forgot the other ball by feet that I drilled them in the face with.:D
Instead of the coin flip, would be far more interesting to send your captains out for a last-man-standing paint ball melee between the 40 yards lines.

Or be glad they didn’t.

If he’d been drafted where he should’ve been this wouldn’t be nearly as big a story.
Disagree. Shedeur was going to be a big story no matter where he was drafted. His dad is one of GOATs and a huge media presence, Shedeur has his own distinct personality but much of his dad's ability draw attention to himself.

Had he been drafted high in the first round he probably would have a lot more negative attention focused on him but he would still be the rookie that is the focus of all the attention

Last year Caleb Williams was the focus of attention but he didn't have the name recognition coming out of college that Shedeur has.

He would’ve been a big story. Sure. But the draft snub added a lot of spice to the story.

Sounds like you lettered in Dodgeball

Way back Irv Brown made a bunch of recordings of top college football coaches talking about their experiences and philosophy, he had Bo Schembeckler, Barry Switzer, etc. They sold them on records but also played them on the radio a couple times when Irv and Joe were out for some reason.

One of them was Bear Bryant. Bear talked about how at the start of fall practice he wanted to set a tone and see how focused his team was. He said he would line the entire team up on one end of the field (about 150 guys including walk-ons) and put 5 footballs on the line at the other end, giving the players instructions to return the balls to him. He said he would blow the whistle and when the guys reached the other end of the field "it looked like a replay of the Persian Wars."

He said he knew he had a great player when in his freshman year LeRoy Jordan came out of the pile with not one but two balls, ran and gave them to him and said "Coach, Ima gonna go back and get you another one."

The image of that event has stuck in my head all these years. Don't know if they even still exist anywhere but it would be fun to go back and listen to those recordings again.

He was never one to get too involved in contact but I can imagine a young Prime using his speed to get one of the balls and his elusiveness to get it back to the coach.

Mods - I'm not going to advocate for a ban like Hokie would, but are we gonna let this slide?
Let what slide? He responded to Buffnik's comment regarding blacks being fortunate their skin doesn't show age as much. I've socialized with blacks who brought up and joked about "black don't crack".
What did I miss, or is this another dumb attack on a poster?

P for K!!!

Maybe it’s best that Cleveland tries to put Shedeur on the practice squad and someone who actually wants him picks him up
I don't think he will be that lucky. In the next two games we will see Gabriel playing against an actual opponent and I'm guessing that he isn't going to look good compared to Shedeur. Doesn't mean they won't try to make him look good with personnel and play calling but compared to SS he doesn't look like an NFL QB.

I was referring to his disparaging comments about People of the North Sea. One of my in-laws has a grandparent of that lineage.

If any other team recognized the value and talent, they would have drafted him.
Maybe.

A lot of the teams that "needed" a QB are also the teams that are generally incompetent over a period of time, Jets, Raiders, Giants, etc.

Easy to see a competent team like the Rams thinking we have our starting QB and don't want the drama involved in drafting a Shedeur Sanders.

Things change quickly though when they see that starting QB dealing with an injury situation that could cost him a season or longer and at the same time see Shedeur both playing well and for the most part (other than the speeding tickets) acting in a way that fits in well with his teammates and shows that he will not be a disruption.

Doesn't have to be the Rams but a team that feels like they have talent to accomplish something but now need a QB. Add the advantage that he is cheap and has shown his talents translate on some level to the NFL.
