Shedeur Sanders - 2023-25 Tracking History Thread - Drafted by the Cleveland Browns (NFL)

I wonder if the problem with his interviews is that the people interviewing him were intent on sabotaging him.
My daughter is at the age where she is starting to interview for jobs. I tell her the interview is not a one way street, she should also use it to interview prospective employers as a possible fit. It sounds like SS turned some people off because he was interviewing teams as a fit for him. The NFL does not want a player to outshine the league itself, it wants total control. This will be very interesting on this whole thing will play out.

If the NFL sabatoged SS’s draft and career (which I believe they did) and there is proof, then they will be liable for potentially a billion dollars.
They took some solid shots at him, but they haven't ruined his career imo. If he shines tomorrow, there are a half-dozen teams that would give their left nut for him. They won't overlook him, in favor of booking a losing season.

The sources are all guessing and it's not clear, but it sounds like the Brown's owner may realize what a blessing SS is financially - and that he can play.
I think KS is the one most strongly against him. No idea why. I've noticed, that when asked a press conference question, KS will use "Dillon" in his response when talking about Gabriel and "him" or "he" when referring to SS.

with my CU psych degree, I found this funny:
"Kevin Stefanski said the Browns would have to "put him down for a little bit" regarding quarterback Shedeur Sanders on August 14, 2025,"

The players’ brands might be why they wanted to make an example of him. They want those brands at the combine, where the NFL controls the media rights.
Not to mention he didn’t hire an agent. Those agents probably all joined the NFL on this. If players realized they didn’t need to pay agents a cut of their already assigned rookie contracts it would crush their bottom line.

Unless one has ironclad, verifiable proof of collusion, one should keep one’s mouth shut. Shedeur has enough drama to deal with. I can’t see anything positive coming out of Dickerson’s accusations.

DBT out here dick riding billionaire NFL owners.

Weird take.

Hypothetical: What if Dickerson was just asking questions?
He said he heard from a reliable source. I’d love it if Shedeur could sue them for all he could get. I think the NFL is doing to him what they did to Kaepernick.

I think Deion is probably as well connected as anyone. He has a lot of friends in high places. I would think if there is proof of collusion by the NFL he would know.

For him, perhaps his source provides him with ironclad proof of collusion.

Look - something happened. Shedeur was potentially a number one draft pick and certainly a top ten. It didn't happen. Something went really wonky, and "we're going to make an example of him" appears to be a likely reason (and has, since the draft).

If someone has credible insights to that, shouldn't they share that? Isn't there some justice in identifying hints of collusion as they emerge, even when they're not yet complete?

For all of the bull**** whataboutisms that you've indulged over the years (and admittedly there have been plenty of "wait and sees" as well), this seems to be a really strange place to draw the "ironclad proof" line, after what was shared feels pretty credible.

Okay. Let’s assume Cleveland cuts Shedeur (I don’t think they will), would added drama, collusion accusations, make teams more likely or less likely to sign him?

I think he is trying to separate himself from all that by putting his head down, being a hard worker, being a great teammate and performing well on the field.

These are completely different things.

Telling people who have information to shut up is very different than the conversation about how Shedeur should respond to these things.

In addition to your apples and oranges logic here, I'd suggest telling someone (particularly someone of color) to just deal with the injustices imposed upon them by power to deal with it, but their head down and work hard is a slippery slope. You didn't say that, choosing instead to speculate on what Shedeur is doing, but others will say it.

Two things can be true at the same time.

Shedeur can be an insufferable diva douchebag, while also being a very good QB prospect who should’ve been drafted much higher.

It seems like those turned off by his personality don’t want to give his game any credit, and his defenders act like the only reason people wouldn’t like him must be because he’s black. Both of those are off base takes.

Great point. The NFL makes a habit of prioritizing personality over athleticism.

He's probably just an asshole by universal and colorblind standards.

Okay. Good points. Maybe I’m wrong. But I’m a huge Shedeur fan and want him to prove all the detractors wrong and want what’s best for him. And my opinions are just that. Opinions. And whatever I think does not move any kind of needle for Shedeur’s career.

DBT, I actually agree that Shedeur just needs to be focused on what he can control. He needs to keep his head down and, sadly, conform to what the NFL wants. Otherwise, he could very well find himself in a Colin Kaepernick situation, being completely blackballed from the league. If the NFL didn't get in trouble for colluding against CK, they certainly aren't going to get in trouble for keeping a 5th round draft pick QB out of the league.

I hate it for him, but it's the reality of his situation.

In a perfect world, 🤣, a whistle blower from the NFL front office would step forward and blow the doors off the NFL with emails, recorded conversations, text messages, etc., proving the NFL told teams not to draft Shedeur in order to teach him a lesson.

These “unnamed sources” claims never amount to anything. Or hardly ever.

Do you disagree?
I'm reluctant to tell individuals who have been on the wrong side of an injustice (if that's in fact what has happened) what they "need" to do.

It must be a terribly difficult decision to resist injustice and face the consequences to your dreams, or to play along and accept your powerlessness in their face.

At the end of the day, we all have to be able to look ourselves in the mirror.

I understand that Shedeur looks like a hero if he emerges as a top quarterback in the league and can throw this all back in their faces. But that still means he has to play along and earn that outcome.

You make a great point. If there’s one place a person of color has difficulty thriving it’s definitely the …<checks notes> National Football League!
