What is weird is they started winning first but couldn't get the students involved until they played that song. But you are right, if they weren't winning or didn't sustain it would be lame.

CUnit:
Have you guys discussed coming up with ways to quell or eliminate inapropriate chants (such as **** You, etc.) that make our student body sound like unintelligent assholes or entitled pricks while we're getting prime national TV coverage? BTW, the USA chant was creative and well-done.
I think the student section was rocking and you guys did a great job yesterday. I'm not perfect and swear with the best of 'em, but when it's obvious and coming from the student section in unison, it makes us look bad as an institution and is something we need to get rid of if we want to be seen as a premier student basketball section.
Again, great job yesterday!
Hard to get casual fans any other way.Winning also helped
I do as well, but I understand from the school's perspective how you don't want that language in a national broadcast. They stopped playing Rock and Roll part 2 at MD games.I like the f'em up chant. Buffaloes, buffaloes, go CU sounds too weird to me now.
I just feel like everything is becoming too sterile. I don't have kids yet so my opinion might change. I hope not.
:rofl:Your first and second sentences may be closely related.
We brought our 10-year old daughter to the KU game. She loved it. There are 3-4 guys that look like they're straight out of college who sit right behind us. They do a reasonable job of self-policing their language, but they can't always completely control it. It's not like she hasn't heard that stuff, but it's also not like I want her thinking it's acceptable public behavior, either. I appreciate the guys behind us and their efforts to control their language. I know it's not easy.
I hope that the f em up chant doesn't disappear - that is a true tradition
I remember about 10 years ago, the CU brain trust had the band cut off Rock n Roll part 2 to avoid the F ' em up cheer at football games. We did it anyway , band or notI hope that the f em up chant doesn't disappear - that is a true tradition
LOL being from Maryland, any area national anthem seems to have atleast a faint O. I have to remind myself not to do it whenever I'm out of the DMV.I used to hear it at Rockies games, Bronco games and all other non-CU events.
I hope that the f em up chant doesn't disappear - that is a true tradition
I don't remember hearing it anywhere else... it doesn't make sense
F em up F em up go Rockies?
I blame Sacky.

F em up F em up go Rockies?
Every time I hear it at Rockies/Broncos/Avs games it's still "F em up F em up go C-U".

I used to think it was the official cheer. We cheered it at the Orange Bowl when we won the National Championship.
Then I grew up and found out it isn't the cheer.
I didn't realize it was that old. I have kids on the way, and while I'm sure I'll be telling them to earmuff it during the cheer (or just telling them it is "BUFFALOES, BUFFALOES"), it is one of the best and most aggressive cheers I've heard in college sports. Now the "bull-****" chant and "F-U-[INSERT SCHOOL]" chant are completely unoriginal and purely obnoxious chants we can and should get rid of. Leave those to the ag school.
This. I found out we had another fight song after I graduated. Well after I graduated. I still have a tough time yelling "Buffalo" at the right time.I used to think it was the official cheer. We cheered it at the Orange Bowl when we won the National Championship.

Show a little respect, goofy.I didn't realize it was that old. As a Ravens fan, the best BS chant ever was the game against the Pats last year.I think the bull**** chant is fine if it is reserved for times in which the call was obviously bs. The FU _____ chant should go. F em up, F em up, Go CU is how I learned the chant and how I'll continue to do it.
I hate how the student body has added the "F em up F em up go C-U" to the end of the fight song. I love the chant as its own but not paired with the fight song.
