Takeaways from the Rocky Mountain Beatdown

I was asking about him being in the game at all. Granted, I watched the game on DVR pretty late after my game on Friday and was fast forwarding through dead time, but I saw Laguda get the start at Safety next to TT, not Moeller. Maybe I just missed him being out there.

He played quite a bit. I was surprised Laguda started against a running team, but he played well. I guess that's what happens when there's real competition for playing time. Who knew?

Did we ever decide where Adkins was?
Ento I thought would make an impact?
Lee didn't do as I expected
Big George needs the ball
Adkins = sidelines. Doesn't have enough reps in what is obviously a hugely modified "O".
Lee = Hagan uses a feature back and as of Friday, Lindsay is it.
Ento and Big G = Buff coaches were surprised at how easily the base "O" worked. So they pulled in their horns on the playbook and stayed basic. And, 1's needed the practice on the basic "O" under game conditions. That's why Sefo was in so long.

This "O" was clearly NOT "just a couple of tweaks different" from BL's old "O".
Why give away free looks at all the shiny new features (with Ento and Frazier) when they weren't necessary after the first quarter?

Haven't rewatched the game yet, but I think Laguda was playing mostly as a hybrid LB/DB with Thompson and Moeller both playing safety.

I'll have to take another look, I guess. To me, it looked like they started, and played a lot in a 3-4 alignment with only 4 DBs (Spoon, Chido, Laguda and TT). That's not to say they didn't change, but that's what I noticed the most. Either way, I'm not disappointed or anything; I thought Laguda played pretty well.

Weird. I don't think Moeller and Laguda were on the field at the same time. Report back after rewatching, please.

All true. However, a bad team would have squeaked by CSU. CSU is a bad football team, but any time you beat another team by 37 points, you're pretty good. I'm very encouraged by that game. It was as it was supposed to be, an ass kicking.
I st beat someone by 37

Pretty pumped for Ross, he had a good game so hopefully it boosts his confidence going forward.

We found 3 key unheralded Juco's last year for our defense in Laguda, Carrell and Jackson. They are all important pieces here.

Very nice pieces. Still want to see how Laguda does against a team with a credible passing game, but he is a nice player to have in run defense for sure.

We beat a piss-poor non P5 team in a series that needs to end.
We did not step on our dicks.
We came out with great emotion ready to play.
It is difficult to judge how good the win was, as CSU is that bad.
Isn't dominating a weaker opponent what a legit PAC12 team does?

Yes. Improved for sure. But withholding analysis until week 3 is done.

CSU is not a good team. Our DL held up great so I'm happy there as CSU OL is legit. Hard to judge the play of our offense as CSU defense is not MWC level IMO.

We have the technology.

Take a paper clip and bend and twist it. Put it on table and ask what is this?

This years CSU team is no worse than last years Hawaii team. The result of the game will show the growth of the team. This years team playing last year wins the USC, Utah, Arizona and UCLA games.

After watching some of the other PAC12 games I think we have real shots on all of our home games. I think we also have shots on a few of our road games:

Michigan looks for real. In their house we will need lights out play. If we actually win this game start making PAC12 championship plans.

Oregon: no defense. After watching a bit of this game I think we have our first legitimate upset potential here. Our defense will hold Oregon under 35. The question is can our o and the Chev/Lindgren come up with 35. I believe an upset is possible here.

Oregon state will be in for a CSU style beating. We will eithe need this one to get our heads straight after the previous 2 tough ones or we will be just checking the box.

USC: I like our chances here. What you say? Really? Yes, USC is not a tough team. Their egos are fragile, they get punched in the mouth and they fold. CU will punch them in the mouth. This stamps the return on the rise. CU is ranked after this game.

Arizona State: ASU has had CU's number. I think we win this game. NAU is no where as talented, fast or strong as CU and they put pressure on ASU. They play tough at home though. This is a toss up game. What? You say we upset Oregon and USC but may drop this one? I don't know just a feeling. This one is going to be tough.

Stanford: at their place. rough. To be the best you have to beat the best. I will predict this game after the Michigan game.

UCLA. we are due and Rosen's douchebag mustache means we win this one going away. The only question I have is will we be playing for our bowl game here.

Arizona has problems. If we do not have our bowl game locked up yet we will here.

Washington state. I will bet Leavitts defense this year slows down Leavhes o better than they slow our o down. Solid win

Utah. Finally, the universe returns to normalcy and Utah is put in its place. Leavitt shows Utah what d look like.

If you can believe it I am predicting 8 wins. 9 after the bowl.
