Looks like the Buffs have clinched the win against the Broncos, as they are showing up 5-0.

Congrats to the team!

Edit- scores (Don't know why the disparity between the 5-1 detailed scoring tweet and the 6-0 sum tweet.)

BOULDER – Colorado's tennis team swept a rare home doubleheader on Saturday, shutting out Boise State 6-0 and Northern Colorado 4-0 at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center. The Buffs improved to 5-1 this season with the wins.

It was CU's first home doubleheader since 2014 when CU defeated Air Force and Colorado State, also on Feb. 1.
...

Up Next: CU heads to Texas for matches at Houston and SMU next weekend.
...

Postmatch Quotes
Danielle Steinberg, head coach
On the doubleheader

"Playing a doubleheader is never easy and I was happy with the energy we brought for both matches and the discipline. Last year we had a tough match at Boise, a 4-3 loss, and this year winning here 6-0, it shows the improvement of the team and how much they want it. So that was nice to see. And just overall, it was good tennis from everyone. I'm very pleased. Doubles looked at lot better [compared to last week]. We're still building, still learning, with a lot of freshmen in the lineup, so we've got to learn a lot of doubles. But as long as we get better every match we play, then I'm happy."

On the team's depth
"It's nice to be able to pull Monica from the second match and let her rest a little bit and know that Toni can handle it at No. 1, and know that everyone's moving up and still can handle it and we can count on our No. 6 and 7s. We're looking forward to being full strength, but I also know that we can count on our bottoms."

On the resilience of the singles players early in the Boise match
"I think we trust ourselves a little more and know that, especially the young players, and Monica too, if I'm down early, I'm going to stick with it and keep fighting. And in tennis, it really just takes one point to change momentum and it's something you always have to think of. And today was a perfect example of it. Monica's match was literally one point that made the whole difference and momentum completely shifted. If we have that mentality of just playing every point and sticking with it, then it's going to happen a lot more times [where we come back from early deficits]. You've got to just keep fighting, keep believing."

Team heading south - beat the cougars and mustangs!
(And, great the SMU match is (hopefully) going to have a video stream.)

"
BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team heads to Texas for a pair of matches against Houston Friday at 12 p.m. MT and against SMU Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Buffaloes (5-1) first head to Houston (1-2) to take on the Cougars who are coming off a close 4-3 loss to Texas A&M Corpus Christi after taking down McNeese in a sweep. The team's only other loss is to Texas A&M in a 6-1 affair. Sunday's match looks to be a tough one in Dallas with SMU (3-0) undefeated this season with a 6-1 defeat of Abilene Christian and a pair of sweeps last Saturday against Colorado State and McNeese. The Mustangs take on New Mexico and Sam Houston State in a double header Friday before facing Colorado.
...

Colorado is seeking its first 6-1 start since the 2014-15 season where the team had an 8-1 start before beginning Pac-12 play.

BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team will head to Iowa this weekend with one less match to play than originally scheduled as Old Dominion University pulled out of the triangle weekend due to inclement weather.

Colorado (5-3) will take on the University of Iowa (2-4) in its home opener Sunday at 9 a.m. (MT). The Hawkeyes won their season opener against South Alabama before losing four-straight to Florida International, No.7 Texas, Texas Tech and Minnesota. The team recovered with a 4-1 win against Marquette on Feb. 8.
...

Colorado returns home for three-straight matches to end the non-conference season, beginning with a match against Wyoming Saturday, Feb. 22, at noon. CU has seven of their next nine matches against the Iowa trip at home and eight of their final 13 matches at home to finish the season.

Congrats to the team on the win!

(Nice sign for the Buffs on this one, last year's Buff #1 Sara Nayer played singles (at #4) for I believe the 1st time this year, so hopefully is getting healthy. She lost a tough 3 setter (4-6 6-3 5-7), but still a great sign for the Buff's future.)

IOWA CITY – Colorado women's tennis team picked up a big 4-3 win on the road Sunday afternoon against the University of Iowa.

The Buffaloes (6-3) clinched the match against the Hawkeyes (2-5) at a 4-2 score as Megan Forster sealed the win in the No.6 singles match. The sophomore had a strong first set with a 6-1 win, then dropped the second in a close 7-6 set. She returned back to form in the third, taking the win for Colorado with a 6-1 third set victory.

"I'm very pleased with doubles today," said Head Coach Danielle Steinberg. "Things are finally starting to click and we are getting more disciplined with every match we play."
...

"I'm happy with how we started off singles on most courts," said Steinberg. "That is something we wanted to improve after last weekend. Toni and Sophia played another very solid match and it's great to see both of them getting more comfortable and confident out there. Megan had a great week of practice and it translates to a very confident third set. It was great seeing her pull through that one."

Iowa tied things up momentarily at 2-2 after Monica Malinen fell in the No.1 match 6-2, 6-2 to Elise Van Heuvelen. Maria Campos also suffered a defeat as Iowa notched things up as Danielle Bauers took the No.5 match 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. The final match of the day saw the return of Sara Nayar to singles play where she fell to Michelle Bacalla in the No.4 match 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

Colorado returns home for three-straight matches as the team closes out the non-conference schedule. The Buffs first opponent back will be Wyoming on Saturday, Feb. 22, at noon.

Welcome and congrats to tennis's new assistant coach!

"
BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis head coach Danielle Steinberg announced Friday morning the hiring of new assistant coach John Cappabianca.

"I am so excited to have John on board," said Steinberg. "It was clear from our first communications that he will fit perfectly with our team, our program's goals and our core values. John is joining us from one of the best tennis programs in the country and I have no doubt he will help us tremendously with taking Colorado Tennis to the next level. More importantly, he is a great guy and will have such a positive impact on our student athletes."

Cappabianca joins the Buffs from the University of Central Florida where he was a volunteer women's assistant coach for the No.12-ranked team in the nation. He assisted in leading two doubles teams to the main draw semifinal at the 2020 ITA All-American Championships as well as guiding an unranked pair to the No.44-rank in the nation.

"I'm thankful for this opportunity from coach Steinberg and Rick George to come over midseason and help out the Buffs," said Cappabianca. "Being in the Pac-12 is an honor and I am looking forward to help take the Buffaloes to the next step at the national level."

Preview from a couple days ago-

"
BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team takes on Wyoming this Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.

Colorado (6-3) are coming off of a close 4-3 win against Iowa on their home court, while Wyoming (5-1) hasn't given up a point this month after sweeping Montana State, Seattle and Southeastern Louisiana. The Cowgirls' lone loss came against Tulsa on the road.

The Buffaloes continue to be led by a pair of young student-athletes as both Antonia Balzert and Sophia Derivan picked up their 13th win of the season. Derivan has a team-best 8-1 record in dual matches while Balzert is 7-2. Megan Forster is also coming off an important win in Iowa.

Doubles play has been key as No.31-ranked Monica Malinen and Sara Nayar picked up their first dual doubles win last weekend against the Hawkeyes. Colorado has a 13-7 record in doubles matches this season in duals, including Derivan and Ky Ecton who are 4-0.

The Buffs begin a three-match home stretch before entering conference play. The team finishes out the stretch against Denver and Minnesota Feb. 22 and 23.

BOULDER – Colorado women's tennis took down Wyoming Saturday afternoon in the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center by a score of 6-1, pushing its home record to 4-1.

"This was a good team win, it was good to be back home," said head coach Danielle Steinberg. "I really liked our doubles point. In general, we had really good energy today, so that's always positive to see. It's good to see Sara back on track and feeling a little more comfortable on the court, moving a little better. Definitely good to have her back. Good day for Monica too, I think she gained a lot of confidence from today really going for her shots and moving forward. Overall, a good team win. I'm excited for next weekend for two really good opportunities at home."

The Buffaloes (7-3) were on a 15-point streak at home through three wins before the Cowgirls (5-2) took the No.5 singles match in a close tiebreaker set.

BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis program hosts No.34-ranked Denver and Minnesota for the final set of non-conference opponents, beginning Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center with the match against the Pioneers.

The Buffaloes (7-3) have won two matches in a row with a road match against Iowa and a home win against Wyoming. They will have a battle on their hands when Denver (7-4) comes to town. The Pioneers swept Air Force to open the season but were swept by No.43 Washington State. The team is on a two-match slide with losses to BYU and No.45 Utah. Denver has one individual, Taylor Melville, ranked at 103 in singles.

Minnesota (10-2) will be another difficult opponent Sunday, March 1, at 11 a.m. The Gophers have played eight-straight home matches, winning them all including a 4-1 defeat of Iowa. Minnesota's two losses are to No.4 UCLA and Utah.

Colorado is ramping up its squad with the comeback of Sara Nayar. The sophomore has been working back into form from injury and had a dominating win against Wyoming in a 6-1, 6-1 fashion. With freshmen Antonia Balzert and Sophia Derivan continuing to lead the team in wins in the No.2 and No.4 spots, the addition of Nayar makes Colorado very dangerous top to bottom.

CU enters Pac-12 play with a trip to Washington March 6 against Washington State and in Seattle against Washington March 8th.

Note for anyone who is planning on going to today's DU match starting at 1:00- with the weather, looks like it is now going to be held outdoors at the team's main South Campus courts.

Best wishes to the team (back indoors today) as they face off against the gophers in ~1-1/2 hours!

Congrats to the team on winning their last preseason match!

Now it's on to Pac 12 play, starting with a road trip to the Washington schools.

Article after yesterday's win-

"
BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team was resilient against Minnesota Sunday in the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center en route to a 4-1 victory.

"First of all, really proud of the team for the way we responded to yesterday," said head coach Danielle Steinberg. "I mean, yesterday wasn't an easy day for us. We weren't happy with how we showed up yesterday and the team chose to respond the right way and took that as motivation and today as another opportunity to step up and do better. We just told them that's the making of a good team, the way they respond. Some of us that had a really tough day yesterday, showed up today and showed up for the team and that you know to me that shows growth and maturity I'm super proud."

Colorado (8-4) bounced back in a big way after a difficult match against Denver on Saturday. The team handed the Gophers (10-3) their third loss of the season while dominating in all facets of the match.
...

The final match point for Colorado was the quickest one as Derivan dominated Frei in the No.4 singles match. Derivan took the first set in a 6-0 sweep, not allowing Frei to eclipse 30 in any of the games. The second set wasn't as easy as they traded leads to three all, then Derivan finished it off to clinch the match at 6-3.

"We're excited for the Pac-12," said Steinberg on the importance of the win before the season. "We were just talking about it and this is the fun part of the season. Going out to Washington next weekend and have Arizona coming to us and the girls are excited to see where they stand in the conference and just want to bring it."

The Buffaloes enter Pac-12 play this upcoming weekend when they head to Washington to take on both schools.

BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team enters Pac-12 conference play Friday at 1:30 p.m. MT with a match against No.39 Washington State in Pullman, followed by a trip to Seattle to take on No.30-ranked Washington Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Buffaloes (8-4) are currently eighth in the Pac-12 in winning percentage heading into opening weekend. Both Washington squads are 9-3 and ranked in the top-40 in the nation. The Cougars are led by the 46th-ranked individual in the country, Michaela Bayerlova, while the Huskies have the 75th-ranked individual in Vanessa Wong. Wong is also part of the 59th-ranked doubles team with Natsuho Arakawa.

This will be a good matchup for Colorado as the team upset Washington State last season for its first ranked win under head coach Danielle Steinberg. Bayerlova and Sara Nayar matched up twice last year, with Nayar taking the first round when Bayerlova was ranked 38th in the nation. The two had a rematch in the Pac-12 tournament, but the match went unfinished with Baylerlova up after a first set victory.
...

The Cougars are a formidable opponent after sweeping Denver in California. The team also swept Fresno State, 5-0, but have recent 4-3 losses to both Columbia and San Diego. The Huskies have a 4-3 loss to Florida State, Princeton and a 5-2 loss to Kansas.

Colorado hosts Arizona State Friday, March 13th at 1:30 p.m. to open home conference play. They will follow it up against Arizona Sunday, March 15 at 11 a.m.

BOULDER – Colorado women's tennis hosts No.18-ranked Arizona State Friday, March 13, at 1:30 p.m. in the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center and follows it up with a match against Arizona Sunday, scheduled for 10 a.m. at the RMTC.

The Buffaloes (8-6, 0-2 Pac-12) have faced three top-40 opponents in the past four matches. Colorado came up just short against No.30 Washington with a 4-2 loss in Seattle. Arizona State (11-5, 1-0 Pac-12) started the conference season with a lone win against Oregon, while Arizona (8-4, 0-1 Pac-12) travelled to Oregon where the team lost.
...

As of Wednesday evening, fans are still allowed to attend the matches, as long as there are fewer than 150 spectators per the university mandate of the preferred number of people at CU-sponsored gatherings; fans should also be spaced apart. Those interested can also follow along with live stat updates at cubuffs.com/tennislive. After the university announced policies related to the COVID-19 virus Wednesday morning, CU athletics issued the following statement:
"The CU Athletics Department is committed to the health and safety of our student-athletes, staff and fans as it relates to COVID-19. The Athletics department is coordinating with campus regarding the new guidance related to events and travel, including non-sports events in our venues. We will be updating the campus FAQs with Athletics updates as changes to procedures and operations are made."

Sunday's match against Arizona does have the opportunity to be moved outdoors to the CU South Campus Tennis Complex. If the match were to be moved it would begin at 11 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. with the announcement on the final site coming early Sunday morning on CU Women's Tennis social media accounts and cubuffs.com.
"

Just since I had posted the preview article, wanted to note this weekend's matches are now (obviously) cancelled.
