Relax. You don't need to go there. Enjoy your Thanksgiving. We'll soon have a new coach to get excited about.
That is good. Are you the recruiting mod? You will have very little to do through February.
Still. Relax. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.
I'll be hoping that Hawkins gets this turned around next year. I'll still support the team. But for now I'm going to be more of a CU Basketball fan than I am a CU Football fan.
Here is the best I can do right now. When Mike Bohn got on the plane for Maui it was a done deal and Hawkins was not going to be retained after the kNU game. There was a donor, who was going to frontload a large donation that was a multi year donation deal to buy him out. While Bohn was out of town, it seems Hawkins went and met with DiStef as well as Bensen...he obviously made a good enough case that they continued with their support of him.
I don't know if Bohn even had a say. I know that his decision was to fire him...I know this first hand.
I know that all of the current commits and offers have been called this afternoon and told that Hawkins would be staying. I don't think they would do this if he was not.
I know that he met with his staff and told them that he is safe and would fight for them. I don't think he has a say.
I believe that for him to stay he had to restructure his contract and lessen his buyout for future years.
I believe the recruiting class will blow up completely. "Who wants to come and play for a lame duck coach?"
Bohn will be back and will meet with Hawkins tomorrow morning to discuss, staff and contract changes.
I think at this point, the only way he goes is if he argues the staff changes. On a personal note, who would want to come and coach here? Their job, not just their contract would be a one year deal...when he gets fired next season.
Sorry for the bad news...this all broke about lunch time today.
Yep, looks like it.
"It was a review to review the season and have a frank discussion," Hilliard said. "I don't want to characterize the outcome as an endorsement of the coach. It's certainly Mike Bohn's decision."
What is Hawkins was not hired to win football games per say. Something like this:
A. Clean up the program
B. Raise the GPA
C. Get good kids in here that want to be here
D. Maintain good citizens on the team
E. Win football games
Hawk goes in to DiStefano and says, I did A-D and will take care of E next season. You cant fire me...I did my job.
This is closer to the truth then it is to fiction. Instead of yelling mad at Bohn, it needs to be directed at the University as a whole. They don't care about winning football or any program for that matter. They are to worried about trying to keep up the appearance of the "Stanford of the rocky mountains" or believing that CU is the same as Vanderbilt etc.
What a load.

How did he convince DiStefano to keep him if he seriously still wants to keep all of his garbage assistants? Hopefully Bohn demands at the very least the removal of: Riddle, Collins, Brandison, and Johnson.
What a joke, since when does the AD get overruled on when he wants to fire a coach he hired?
Regardless of whether this turns out to be the right decision or not, if this is true and I was Bohn, I'd be updating my resume and actively looking for another job as soon as I stepped off the plane. Instead of announcing the retention of Hawkins, I'd be announcing my resignation.
This is complete and total Bull****!!!

Hawkins told the boosters, "Eventually, the cream rises to the top in every endeavor. I have every confidence in that, I do. We've got to grow up a little bit. Yeah, we need one less penalty, one less turnover, one more correct route, one more guy in the correct gap. All of a sudden, there you go."
More of this **** being shoveled down our throat for another year.

This might well be true, but proves only that the keystone kops have been duped by Hawk's insistence that E can only be done in the absence of A-D. That is a load of horse****.
Hawk has not insisted that. He has pretty consistently said that you build A-D and then E comes.

Yeah because Talkins does it the "right way"..
Please. .
This blows.
