The Mtn Sports Network - Going off air in June

I heard that their new coach (I can't remember his name) cut a new tv deal with The Stretching Network. It's carried by a subset of the distro networks that are carrying the longhorn network.
I picture it more like this:

The Universe is making the sheep pay for those hideous uniforms. the loss of tv coverage is just one of a score of biblical plagues headed their way.

wait until a locust swarm suddenly consumes noted alum bradlee van mullet's pecker in a strange frenzy... sheepnation will be in full meltdown.

Good news for them is they will be able to watch every Buffs basketball and football event on the Pac-12 network.

that reminds me. I talked to direct tv about them getting the PAC and they guy said he still hasn't heard anything. This was just some phone monkey, but no official anything on the internal website he checked (menu and hours for McDonalds)

He doesn't have one, so that would indeed be a strange turn of events.

It does beg the question, where will our game be the years csu has
The tv rights?

Watching a Mtn broadcast was like being back in the 80s trying to watch scrambled porn on cable. We're not losing anything if we have to just listen on the radio.

I'm sure the conference will negotiate with one of the networks to broadcast their games. They're always looking for content (they broadcast fatasses playing poker afterall). They'll get picked up, but the tv money will be awful. How they are paying McElwhine so much I have no idea.

Yeah, but I don't get KOA in Orlando...except on the innerwebs.

More people watch that than CSU football.

I assume this is a good thing for the conference. No one made hardly anything from that ill-fated MTN endeavor. Now they get to negotiate with the networks to carry their games and they do so with added leverage of CUSA merger. I would imagine they are going to come out ahead on this one. Certainly not every game is going to be televised (like a conference network can do), but the MTN was a disaster from the get go.

I'm not sure that merger is going to happen.

Didn't realize that. What happened? Logistical nightmare?

Money.

If the conferences dissolved so they could merge, they each would have lost their NCAA tournament money. That's $250k per team per round paid out over 6 years. Also, the new league would have only been guaranteed 1 bid to the dance going forward.

Now it looks like they'll either have a scheduling alliance, nothing w/ both conferences expanding through the WAC & Sun Belt, or they'll find some way to work a merger without losing the money.

Thanks. Would rep you again if I could. Things are really not looking good for the Mountain West right now. It seems those teams only hopes at this point are invites from a major conference.

Can somebody fill me in on what teams are still in the Mountain West? Didn't Boise already leave? SDSU? I know BYU is gone and obviously Utah and TCU. The only schools I can think of that are still in the conference are WYO, CSU, Air Force and New Mexico. There has to be more than that, though. Right? Hawaii maybe? Fresno?
