I've been reading how CSU fans are saying how CU has no clue how to defend Michael Gallup because he's a totally different player than the first game from last year. Or how Nick Stevens is the second coming of Tom Brady. Gallup is a good WR and Stevens is a fine CFB QB, but CSU fans are delusional if they think CU hasn't played better QB's or WR's in the past year. Sam Darnold at USC, Falk at WSU,Jake Browning at UW. Or how about John Ross at UW was only the fastest player in the draft last year who went #9 overall. Or JuJu Smith-Schuster at USC who is now with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Or Gabe Marks at WSU, who set records for Wazzou and is now with the NY Jets.
CSU fans fail to understand that CU faces top tier athletes EVERY WEEK in the P12. Gallup and Stevens, as good as they might be, are just another talented tandem CU faces every week.
But the biggest differences are:
CU Nobel Prize winners? 4 since 1989
CSU Nobel Prize winners? Zero in the history of the school
CU is ranked as the #118 University on planet earth
CSU is classified in the #301-350 cohort - far enough down where they are not specifically ranked
A dear family friend who retired as an HP Exec and then taught in the business school at CSU and was twice awarded the Business Faculty member of the year. Yet he admitted whenever he worked on a project that included students from both CU and CSU, the CU kids were consistently stronger students.
Or the neighbor kid who graduated from HS a couple years ago. The kid was a top fall sport athlete (not football) and received a full ride from a top tier B12 school. This kid was massively immature in HS and continued his ways in college until flunking out with a 1.4 GPA and losing his scholarship. Where is this failed student athlete today? On a half scholarship at CSU.
Last time CU finished the football season ranked - 2016
Last time CSU finished the football season ranked - 2000
Anyone who watched the CSU/OSU game came away impressed with CSU's offense, but that's it. And it was against a team that hasn't won a road game in 3 years and is down in depth and overall talent right now.
Those missed early passes by Luton last Saturday will be TD's with Montez throwing to Fields, Bobo, Ross, JMac, Winfree, Ento...... The CSU secondary will be burned worse than a tourist on Waikiki Beach and their fantasies of hanging with Alabama, playing in a NY6 Bowl, how they are better than CU will fade like the hot dream they can't remember from last night.
