The REAL differences between CU and CSU

I've been reading how CSU fans are saying how CU has no clue how to defend Michael Gallup because he's a totally different player than the first game from last year. Or how Nick Stevens is the second coming of Tom Brady. Gallup is a good WR and Stevens is a fine CFB QB, but CSU fans are delusional if they think CU hasn't played better QB's or WR's in the past year. Sam Darnold at USC, Falk at WSU,Jake Browning at UW. Or how about John Ross at UW was only the fastest player in the draft last year who went #9 overall. Or JuJu Smith-Schuster at USC who is now with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Or Gabe Marks at WSU, who set records for Wazzou and is now with the NY Jets.

CSU fans fail to understand that CU faces top tier athletes EVERY WEEK in the P12. Gallup and Stevens, as good as they might be, are just another talented tandem CU faces every week.

But the biggest differences are:

CU Nobel Prize winners? 4 since 1989
CSU Nobel Prize winners? Zero in the history of the school

CU is ranked as the #118 University on planet earth
CSU is classified in the #301-350 cohort - far enough down where they are not specifically ranked

A dear family friend who retired as an HP Exec and then taught in the business school at CSU and was twice awarded the Business Faculty member of the year. Yet he admitted whenever he worked on a project that included students from both CU and CSU, the CU kids were consistently stronger students.

Or the neighbor kid who graduated from HS a couple years ago. The kid was a top fall sport athlete (not football) and received a full ride from a top tier B12 school. This kid was massively immature in HS and continued his ways in college until flunking out with a 1.4 GPA and losing his scholarship. Where is this failed student athlete today? On a half scholarship at CSU.

Last time CU finished the football season ranked - 2016
Last time CSU finished the football season ranked - 2000

Anyone who watched the CSU/OSU game came away impressed with CSU's offense, but that's it. And it was against a team that hasn't won a road game in 3 years and is down in depth and overall talent right now.

Those missed early passes by Luton last Saturday will be TD's with Montez throwing to Fields, Bobo, Ross, JMac, Winfree, Ento...... The CSU secondary will be burned worse than a tourist on Waikiki Beach and their fantasies of hanging with Alabama, playing in a NY6 Bowl, how they are better than CU will fade like the hot dream they can't remember from last night.

CU 48 - CSU 28

CU has both a Law School and Medical School, which have a made a profound impact on the state.
CSU has a veterinary school which, well.... helps animals.

The game should be tighter than last year, but as someone above noted, Dawkins, Gallup and Stevens are a trio of skill players + a quarterback not unlike any Pac-12 (or Big 12, or Big 8, or Big 7... you see, we've been at this big time football thing for a while) would have on any Saturday.

There was only 1 Mountain West G5 team that demographically, historically, and athletically made sense to make the jump to a power conference, and that was Utah. Perhaps in the future with population growth, UNLV and Nevada would be a reasonable pair to add to create a Pac-14. CSU adds nothing but exhaust on I-25 as their short fans drive their big trucks to see if the mighty Rams can topple Wyoming (pop. 580k) this year.

Hopeful for a fun game and a CU victory. I work on 17th Street so I don't have to worry about dealing with CSU fans on Monday, as our office simply doesn't have any (maybe the guy who drops off the jugs of water? Can't be sure).

GO BUFFS.

The best part of all of these is that not one of them is effected if the lambs pull off an upset.

From my perspective on Tuesday morning there's not much practical difference between
"Congratulations on the game, now go get my coffee."
and
"Sorry about the game, now go get my coffee."

So we won't be able to stop Gallup? Is this like we wouldn't be able to stop Hollywood Higgins last year. Or the long line of individual offensive stars that CSU has presented over the years.

Higgins was a good player, good enough to end up in an NFL camp this year and who knows maybe on an NFL roster. Sheep lost 44-7 with him out there last game.

Difference between a quality P5 defense and a quality MWC defense is that the P5 defense can overcome and control an offense that has an individual standout. A lot of the MWC defenses had no answer for a guy like Higgins.

Higgins didn't play last year. He was riding the Cleveland Brown bench after they wasted a 2nd round pick on him.
