The REAL differences between CU and CSU

This game should be closer than last year, but honestly, unless the Buffs step on their dicks we should win by 21+.

Higgins didn't play last year. He was riding the Cleveland Brown bench after they wasted a 2nd round pick on him.

You are right, year before. Point is that the Sheep fans all thought that he would singlehandedly beat us. He had some catches early but for most of the game was a non-factor against a Buff team that still hadn't gotten their stride.

So we won't be able to stop Gallup? Is this like we wouldn't be able to stop Hollywood Higgins last year. Or the long line of individual offensive stars that CSU has presented over the years.

Higgins was a good player, good enough to end up in an NFL camp this year and who knows maybe on an NFL roster. Sheep lost 44-7 with him out there last game.

Difference between a quality P5 defense and a quality MWC defense is that the P5 defense can overcome and control an offense that has an individual standout. A lot of the MWC defenses had no answer for a guy like Higgins.
To be fair, we've never stopped one of their tight ends.

Agree, but I don't think we can underestimate the sheer will and heart that comes out when your competitor just wants it more than you. I like Phil and our leaders, but CSU always will usually want this game more, some years by a lot. I don't think that's the case this year due to our leadership, but I feel like the general, collective tone of some posts over the last day or so have glossed over CSU's heart. I say we win by in the range of 14-17, even though I feel we should win by 21+.

We have always had that issue. That game though they got off to a quick start scoring 14 points in the first quarter. They got a whopping 10 the rest of the game, not exactly dominating.

that reminded me of this:

Buffaloes and Rams fans compare dental work on the 16th street mall in Denver prior to the RMS.

IMG_1435.JPG Ram tears are nectar from the gods. A year is such a long time to wait for another fix. Can't hardly wait for tomorrow to get one more taste of that that sweet, sweet CSU sorrow.

Is it kickoff yet?

I'd agree Gallup really hit his stride later in the year last year and seemed overwhelmed in the first game last year.

I'd disagree we haven't seen comparable WR. It's the pac 12 baby! This aint intramurals!

I said this somewhere, possibly here, but we see comparable to better WRs in practice every day. Gallup wouldn't start at CU.

I'm not so sure about that. He's right there with them. He's a likely invite to the Combine, I expect.
Who would he start over? I suppose you could take lil Mac out and put Gallup in his place, but I wouldn't trade Fields, Bobo or Ross for Gallup.

And if we had Gallup instead of one of those guys, we wouldn't want to get CSU's guy over Gallup. Very similar talent levels. He's a heck of a player. CU's advantage isn't in having one Top 10 pick stud who is on another level from Gallup, it's in having at least 3 guys who are as good. Maybe more, when we consider players like Ento and Winfree.

As you say, we have at least four guys who are every bit as good if not better. Our DBs have to face those guys every day in practice. Michael Gallup isn't going to scare anybody on our defense.

To get real silly, I think if this was a video game:

Fields, Bobo, and Ross would all be like 88 overall, while Gallup would probably be a 90. Not an insult to our group, anyone who has played the college football video games knows how crazy easy it is with multiple WRs over 85. Fields possibly an 89 while Ross becomes more like a 92 getting to play in the slot. Gallup is slightly better but that doesn't mean anything when Nick Stevens is an 82 and has an awareness of 75 while Isaiah Oliver is a 95.

TDforTD - you are a geek (like me), and I love you for it.

You've been around way too long to not have seen that video posted on this website at least 30 times. Remember the Walrus? He spanked it to that video every day in Afghanistan. And proudly told us about it.
He prolly spanked it while his helicopter flew itself.

Would you say this only because each of our receivers are taking away (stats-wise) from the others. I.e. if we ONLY had Ross OR Bobo OR Fields, would that raise the video game ranking?
