This is why we didn't and won't get GameDay in Boulder

TUMPKIN.... Can you imagine what it would be like if a women's group protested GameDay?? It would look really bad... They absolutely couldn't host it in Boulder without mentioning it. What do you think? Has GameDay been to College Station since the creepy Sandusky was revealed as a pedophile?

I think spending less than 2 months out of the past decade in the Top 25 has more to do with it than Tumpkin.

Ok, but Times Square isn't a college football program so that's irrelevant. Hosting GameDay is an honor and a statement made by "Disney" that they approve of that campus/school/program. I'm pretty sure they "punish" programs or try and save face by avoiding controversial campuses. I'm sure they won't be going to Ole Miss for a while.

Great point. They haven’t been to Vancouver since Rolling Stone did the rape article either.

They wouldn't reference the Katie Hnida stuff (probably) but the Tumpkin thing happened last season... and I'm sure the university is about the write that woman a 7-figure check. I guess Penn State is past the GameDay "Statute of Limitation" but I'm sure they were in the GameDay penalty box for at least a few years post-Sandusky.

College Station?

I'm confused by this too.

good luck finding a football program that hasnt seen any sort of controversy the last 10-15 years

This.

Game day has been plenty of places that have had events much more significant in recent years. The Tumpkin thing barely touched the national news.

Last year we saw them in Columbus, Seattle, Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa, Clemson, Knoxville among others. Are all these schools free from controversial events? Not even close. What they have in common is teams that have been in the rankings, in major bowls, and mostly have 1 1/2 to 2 times the number of fans showing up for games.

ESPN doesn't care about a few people carrying protest signs, they have dealt with it before and don't worry about it. They know how to manage it.

Really, it’s all about Bill McCartney. There’s a lingering anti-CU bias because of his strong religious commitments.
