That would be Patrick Ridgell. And yes, he'd be an excellent choice. Although I'd hate to see him leave the Times-Call.

Kirk's a good guy. Knows his audience though, and therefore there's no incentive for his writing to improve. If he covered things on a more national level I think he'd develop a better style and would be appreciated more. As it is, he's a lifer at that paper and can do whatever he wants.
