Top 25 & Other Hoops Games - Week 5

Ducks got to within two against Boise, and then had the worst possession ever to end the game. Why are teams so bad at final possessions anymore?

UCLA - Gonzaga going to 2nd half, and it has been really entertaining to this point. ESPN2.

Time to waive Oregon and Utah out of the top 25 and give a certain 8-1 Pac school a look. It's down to CU and Arizona as the only 1 loss teams in the conference, but we'll pick up mid-range receiving votes.

Bruins get a good win for the Pac and potentially for our RPI.

And ... Monmouth must be damn good.

Monmouth is good. Bruins would beat them if they played again. 3 losses are to USC (who they beat in the rematch), Dayton (damn good team) and Canisius (bad, bad loss). They'll likely win the MAAC and be in the Dance this year.

UCLA's other 2 losses are neutrals vs Kansas and Wake. Nothing to be ashamed of on that resume and they've really figured it out the last couple weeks.

Starting my day with Syracuse vs St. John's at the Garden. Hell yeah!

If Cuse drops this it's fair to ask some questions about whether their early results were flukey.

It's also fair to start asking whether the Big East could get 7 or 8 teams into the Dance this year out of a 10 team league.

Edit: Same question applies for the Big 12. Those two leagues are having outstanding non-conference results and could dominate the bubble.

DU got a nice little home win over Weber State (69-68) to push its record to 7-3. I'd like Tad to get them on the schedule. Much better opponent than UNCo as an in-state filler.

Couple of great Philly 5 games on right now.

St. Joe's is up by 2 at Temple early in the 2nd half on CBSSN.

La Salle trails by 2 early on at Villanova on FS1.

Awesome game between St. Joe's and Temple that went into OT and St. Joe's survived a last second miss to win by 1.

Nova is destroying La Salle. Impressive.

LSU at Houston is a really fun game in progress on ESPN2. Houston up by 7 as they get near halftime.

CBI should be a blast with Ben Simmons this year

Houston gets the win over LSU. Kelvin Sampson looks to be on his way to rebuilding that program.
