Washington Game --- Official Thread (8pm FS1)

A reminder to everyone. CU wants to stripe the stadium for this game.

Even sections, wear black
Odd sections, wear silver/gray
Students wear black

Hopefully this doesn't become another crazy Highlander story.

I hit AirBnB for the first time ever. I'm renting a couch from some dude in what looks like a second bedroom/office in a condo near Canyon and Folsom. Cheap and simple (I hope).

I think I stayed there once . . .

... I give it two stars.

My biggest concern with the 8pm kickoff isn't the poor national exposure. It isn't that a 10pm local kickoff personally sucks for me.

No, my biggest concern is that our team's performance has been pretty bad in night games, and this has been true since MM got here:

The numbers will always be skewed that way though. Night games tend to be bigger games, which means better teams. Has to do more with the opponents we play in night games than it does the time of kick off.

We've played big teams early in the afternoon too. I'm fine with taking FCS and even non-P5 teams out. Or even taking out post season games. The numbers still suck.

Last year, our day games included UU, Stanford, USC and Michigan, were those not big games?

It's not just the win loss record, that can be a bounce here, a bounce there. It's not even the points differential, although that shows a real difference on the offensive side, IMO.

When there's hundreds of yards of offensive production difference, I see a trend.

There may be a slight trend there, but when we play schools like Texas State, Idaho State, Central Arkansas, Hawaii x2, UMass x2, Nicholls State, Charleston Southern, etc exclusively before 7pm, it is going to skew the offensive production.

For what it's worth, 10pm on the east coast is "prime time" for TV. This is came from some CBS TV guys while I was at the final four when I was complaining about the tip off time, and they said 9-11 pm on the east coast was the sweet spot. Bunch of night owls there I guess.

One of the Hawaii games was after 7, and it's part of the trend of performing badly after 7. :(

I might try and normalize somehow for strength of opponent, but this is a trend I noticed about halfway through 2015, and nothing in the stats seem to contradict it.

In season I know the team has a lot of early morning practices; I know that can't help night game performance. I also really think that the coaches, Lindgren especially, seem to make a lot more head scratching play calls the later it gets.

UU was a night game. Sun was setting just before kickoff.
