I disagree with the commentators. I think having that pick is a lot more advantageous than a punt, due to the psychological impact it could have on Browning + a good punt would have pinned us inside the 10 yard line

But without the risk of a successful fake punt, or going for it and making it on 4th down, or a roughing the kicker penalty on a punt. Better to take the interception.

I'll take extending the play and moving the pocket over forcing throws into coverage or running into contact over and over again that leads to him being hurt.

That was such a short punt that his eyes would have had to been up and looking at the returner much earlier than normal, and Pettis moved into him at the last second to try to catch it. Frustrating, and obviously a penalty, but just an easy mistake to make on a play that's off schedule by about a second compared to what you normally expect.

3rd and long on the 40. Worth it to take a shot. Could complete it. Could get a pass interference. Or not. That's 2 out of 3 being good things. Always better than taking a sack and punting anyway.
