Did Alex or his parents give any indication as to when he will make his decision?
I heard he'll declare pretty soon without hiring an agent. He wants to get a draft grade and then he'll decide.

As for your question, I don't think he's set a timetable yet. Wouldn't surprise me if Boyle asks for a sit down with him and/or his parents soon though.
he really needs to see how he grades out in the draft. I don't care what Boyle says, if he is a top 10 pick then he needs to go.

Sure, Thomas leaving hurts Washington, but they'll still be very good next year. I'm not saying they'll make a run in the tourney, but I expect them to be a contender for the Pac 12 title even without Thomas.
Terrence Ross is legit, and I think a lot of Husky fans are just waiting for Gaddy to explode...which hasn't happened yet. He was struggling with confidence it seems before he tore his ACL, so it may take awhile. Still, if Ross, Gaddy and Wilcox all improve next season, they're going to be dangerous. Ndiaye is a good big to have as well.
As for the other comments about needing players to leave...I want them to stay. If you're Williams, you have to leave due to the money on the table as a potential number one overall pick. However, I want to face the top competition. I want the Pac 12 to get back to where the Pac 10 once was...near the top of the bball world. The conference has been hurt by players leaving early and coaching changes. Hopefully the coaching changes stop, and some players are willing to stay one extra year. This conference has a lot of potential, and yes, CU can remain competitive even as the rest of the conference gets better.

I thot it was awesome that Chauncey wants to talk to Alec about the decision. Nice to have a pro lend his thoughts on the process. It also bodes well in that potential recruits will hear about this. Also, and in the future, Alec may offer his advice to another Buff player who is in the same situation.

Pretty much a lock that he will declare (but not hire an agent) as this would allow him to meet with and workout for teams. The only question is whether or not he will stay in the draft. The deadline to withdrawl is May 8th. Because there is small window of time between when players can have contact with NBA teams (April 29) and the withdrawl deadline, we shouldnt know what he is doing until May 8.
It will be interesting to see what Isaiah's draft grade will be. He's certainly impressive, but when Abdul Gaddy went down for the year he seemed to be a little overburdenered with the backcourt responsibilities. I personally think he'd benefit from another year of college, but who knows.
Anyway, for those not familiar with UW's squad... if Isaiah comes back they will have one of the most talented, if not the most talented backcourt in college next year. If Isaiah goes pro, then UW's backcourt is still likely to be as strong as anyone in the Pac. UW has an amazing group of #1 #2 and #3's. The big hole is at #4.
Aside from Isaiah, UW will be bringing back current Sophomore PG Abdul Gaddy (6'3") who was having a breakout season for UW prior to a season-ending injury in January. In addition, Freshman SG Terrence Ross (6'6") will be returning and came on strong at the end of the year. He has the best NBA potential on the team right now and is already listed as a potential Top 10 pick in next year's NBA draft. Freshmen SG C.J. Wilcox (6'5") also played really well down this year's stretch and is easily the best pure-shooter on the team. He's money from beyond the 3. Both Terrence and CJ can alternate between the #2 and #3 as needed.
Heading into Seattle next year is PG Tony Wroten, Jr (6'4"). He may be the highest-rated recruit ever to go to UW and was believed by many to be the best passer in the country in high-school basketball this year. UW fans are very excited to see this hometown wonder hit the court.
With or without Thomas, UW will be fine in the backcourt next year. If he returns UW will be as strong and deep as anyone in the country. If he goes pro UW will still be very good from #1-#3. The biggest question is how well the #4 and #5 play.
Most of the quick responses I've seen today have Thomas pegged as a 2nd round pick.

The NBA drafts on potential. Until that changes, I do not see any rational reason for any potential NBA player to stay in college (or even go to college) IF someone will draft them. Why? because the younger a guy is, the more likely it is that a team will stick with a draftee for a few years to teach him and he gets that salary. That salary can ONLY be made up in college if a player is able to vault themselves into a top pick... and even then, there are always the kids coming behind you that have "more potential."
So under this system where scouts try to find "potential" rather than find a longer history of success.... then every kid should take the money if it is offered.....
