Well, we suck again. Fire Mac.

After the OSU game......

Thanks for sending your thoughts below. Saturday was certainly disappointing and unacceptable for CU Football. I share in your disappointment and frustration as does Mike, his staff and our student-athletes. However, we still have a third of our football season left and we have a lot to play for. We have a big opportunity on Friday night in Tuscon and I expect that we will be prepared and ready to compete. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and your support of the Buffs.
Respectfully,
Rick

Read this. He is afraid. Literally coaching from fear.

MacIntyre on not going for it on 4th down at WSU 36: "I think we were 3-of-20 on third down or something crazy. If we get sacked, the ball is at the 50. I thought we could pin them at the 10 and get the ball back and have another chance. They made a good drive... turning point."

Coward. That was our last good chance.

I'd like to keep chiv but only as wr coach and that won't be happening.
Really?

Tell me what position group fell the farthest below expectations in 2017 and had its failure to make plays (or to play guys who were making plays) as the main reason we didn't become bowl eligible? From the locker room attitudes to the play on the field, what group was an absolute disaster?

And to be absolutely crystal clear:

THERE'S NO REASON TO RETAIN ANY COACH ON THIS STAFF!!!

FIRE THEM ALL!!!
Chiv is clearly not ready to be an OC. However, I think he is worth keeping as a WR coach and recruiting coordinator if he'll take the demotion. Maybe give him an assistant HC title to keep him happy. There is no doubt he's brought in talent. Imagine what he could do as a recruiter with a dynamic closer helping him out as head coach.

Drake is also a guy I wouldn't mind keeping. Everyone else must go.

Is this a multiple choice question?

If I were a donor who invested in the new facilities, I would be all over Rick to make a change....what a complete disaster. We need to make a change. HCMM is all about excuses.

BTW, for those of you who email Rick, do you think his responses are from him, or from his staff?
So, Mr. Donor. How much ya willin’ to pay?

Since SC, this has been Chiv....

No. I'm venting a bit. But the only reasonable answer is that Chev has been good in some ways and poor in others. He has potential as a position coach and could become a great recruiter. If the new coach wants to keep him on board, I wouldn't be upset. But I damn sure wouldn't tell the new coach he had to retain Chev or anyone else.

My question is: How confident are you that RG will make the right hire to catapult us forward with success vs. remaining at or below a middling NCAA program?

I'm confident that RG's aspirations and expectations for the program align with my own. I'm confident that he is a smart guy who knows this biz and will make a strong hire. No guarantees with that, but I'm willing to bet on it improving the program.

OL? Kidding aside, you make good points, I guess I'm looking at recruiting.

But new coach shouldn't be obligated to keep anyone so..

With no viable interim coach to step in. RG could follow the KU example. Announce MMac will finish the season and bowl game if we win again, but will be replaced for 2019 and get start looking for replacement ASAP.

The thing with OL is that we knew it was a position group we'd just hope was competent enough to not get overwhelmed so that the skill guys had a chance to win games. Somehow Adams has made them worse -- individually and as a unit.

Maybe my biggest complaint about the mismanagement of this coaching staff is that Chev and Adams both got promoted after their 2017 performance.

Yep, that was strange.

Buffnik is right. RG could have held the extension but after MM wins every coaching award; it’s hard not to reward. Now we see that was the wrong choice. RG knows winning, has monetary sense and wants a winner. I’m sure during this losing streak he has made a list and has the phone ready whether MM gets them bowl eligible or not. Chiv needs to be retained somehow for the guys that are being recruited. Whomever RG is looking for; I’m sure it’s someone that he knows would be interested.

If Chev is retained, he needs to embrace a Coach O type career path. Maybe he can become a HC one day. But that path is to be a recruiting mad dog, a player favorite on the staff, and accept an Assistant Head Coach / WR Coach / Recruiting Coordinator position. He has failed as an OC and it seems to have also hurt his recruiting -- we did nothing in Texas this cycle.

I agree with that. OC he is not at this point. There is none of the urgency that was there in the beginning whatsoever. They all are dead men walking at this point.

let Mike Mac finish the season (bittersweet since Jay's a senior) and if there's a backroom deal with Miles you announce it ASAP ..
