We're about to find out how good Mac is

If MacIntyre were to leave at the end of the year, he runs the risk of being typecast as a rebuild guy. That's not all bad, but if he rebuilds then plateaus at his theoretical next job, he may not have done himself any favors for his next role.

To his credit, so much of the recruiting conversation used to be, "It's not about the X's and O's, it's about the Jimmies and Joes." The Buffs have the players now, but they didn't recruit them as much as they developed them. It's a different dynamic, but it will be interesting to see how MacIntyre and company do with recruits rated much higher from the beginning.

We are actually in a really good position. First of all we have Rick George. Second, if Mac leaves, we have Leavitt - who is at least half the reason we are where we are. If Leavitt leaves we still have Mac - who is the most honorable coach in the country and one that the CU community could all stand behind. The worst case scenario would be they both leave. Then we would have our choice of good candidates given CU, Boulder, the facilities and the trajectory of our team.

Awesome article by ESPN. A bunch of this stuff we have heard before, but it is cool to see the national media taking notice. Being ranked has a lot of external benefits.

I actually read something where he talks about this. he said that the guys he has now weren't highly rated, but the fact all of them stuck together (unlike the Hawkins, Embree recruits) and bought into the program, built it up, and are now winning as Juniors and Senior is going to reap the benefits where he'll be able to recruit "kids that will able to play at a high level and make an impact much earlier." Yeah, I know that's the point. But to hear it come from his mouth was impressive that he gets it and that is what he's working toward.
