We're not good

Montez was off the chain tonight. He threw ridiculously accurate balls on the run and receivers dropped them. The dude is going to be very special.

He showed a tremendous amount of poise and composure tonight..... and you are right, some of the bullets he threw on the run..wow.

The question is where does this team rank against its peers. UCLA is not a very good team especially on defense - they have talent but they are sloppy in execution. The Buff defense was a bright spot - keeping the normal offensive juggernaut in check, but when the game was up for grabs at the end could not get a stop. But the offense is a problem especially with scoring. Converting 25% of your 3rd downs is not going to cut it.

Did not like the fake FG. Thought is was one of the turning points of the game - good drive at the end of the half and no points. A FG would of cut it to a one point game.
I also do not like how much they run the QB - they did it with Sefo last year and it ended up hurting them at the end of the season when he was playing injured. Football is season does not give much chance to heal and the bruises accumulate.

We need to see more Shenault and Nixon IMO.
I knew at the time of their signing we'd over recruited several existing players based on their skill sets. Neither player has failed to live up to their star rating out of high school based on what few touches they've got this season. Whether it's a matter of player loyalty or player adaptation to system I have no idea but every time either one gets the ball in their hands the result is usually positive. IMO we have these two huge talents that by not red shirting and give limited opportunities to we're saying "you're good but...". TX is a fertile recruiting ground and we hit the golden goose with this pair but this staff doesn't know what to do with players of this caliber possibly because they haven't scored this level of talent before.

It is game five and Shenault is already getting more snaps. You are really forcing a narrative here. Red shirts are not as sacred as fans make them out to be.

I'm aware of his status as the O-line coach and I see you have resorted to name calling, Tardblog! I just haven't seen the O-line develop whatsoever. You seem to have a boner for him, that's your choice. He'd be on thin-ice in my book.
Fire the coach!!!

Predictable and silly

There's no reason Buffs can't beat Arizona and at Oregon St to get to 5-2. From there anything can happen and this team will still go bowling. This team was not going to have a year like last year when they lost so much talent especially on defense. However I must say watching last night was not too enjoyable and was very reminiscent of 2015.

My rant: We had a ****ty second quarter, and even so, we absolutely should have won the game despite the bad fake call and the drops and the holds. It was very frustrating.

However, I, and it seems like most people had this as a hope we win game at best, and not a definite win game at all. And yet, we played well enough that we should have won the away game.

The opening line had us as 4 1/2 point dogs, and at kickoff we were 7 1/2 point dogs. Not many outside of Buffs fans thought we'd win, and yet we should have and just blew it. Yes, that was frustrating as hell and we need to win those and improve in a lot of areas, but the dumpster fire reaction from some on here is just miserable.

Hopefully we put together some nice wins in the next five game stretch, and if not, then yes, I'll see this season as a disappointment. We definitely need to dump some dead weight on the coaching staff and to improve recruiting of the big guys, but I don't expect to see much change there until after the conference season at the earliest, so while I'm concerned, I'm not freaking out about that stuff right now.

We should beat AZ and OSU. The other games are at one level or another winnable and we should 1 of them. 6-8 wins is doable. If we lose this Saturday the rails will be off but it’s at Folsom against a bad team w limited talent.

I thought this team would get 7-8 wins and think they will do so.

We knew the defense would struggle some this season. I think they have been decent, but they are not getting enough pressure and our DL is getting worked.

The offense should not be struggling this much. The OL played better last night but they have to finish drives .

Don't know what is up with fields and wr's. Not many deep balls this season.

If it appears I'm forcing a narrative it's due to modern day realities, 4* star players rarely commit to sit or learn the ropes at the CU's of the world, in their mind they've already achieved status. Shenault's game snaps have been earned via practice in addition to results on the field or he wouldn't get them. Nixon plays on STs mostly and you have to admit when he does get a touch the heart skips a beat. Been a while since a player transferred for reason(s) other than home sickness which is biting us currently in the form of Patrick Carr. Which leads me to this, if you're going to recruit them you best be ready to play them. Red shirts have no sanctity with fans of consistently winning teams.

I can't tell if you are actually complaining or not.

If you want to call it complaining you can no harm no foul. To turn a blind eye and later ask why did that kid transfer besides home sickness is a new experience for CU and us fans. I'll post the same why recruit the high level kids to begin with if (coach) don't already know what they bring + your job does depend on current success/future success ratio.

You have a disturbingly low opinion of CU and the wrong idea about Patrick Carr.

They're playing and Shenault's role is increasing... I am still wondering why you are driving a "play them a lot or they will transfer" mentality.

As for the rest... um, yeah.
