What to expect from Davis Webb (NOTHING - Cal Bound)

InsideCoaches.com believes that Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback Davis Webb is going to transfer to Cal.

On Saturday sources close to Davis Webb confirmed he has made the decision to transfer to the University of California. INSIDE Coaches also confirmed Davis would make it public this coming week before graduation.

After originally deciding on Colorado, Webb visited Cal a few weeks ago along with Auburn. It sounds like he's done enough to change his opinion on where he should go. Nothing is confirmed yet but this sounds promising.

Webb had a decent first two seasons in Texas Tech in 2013 and 2014, completing 62% of his passes and putting up 46 touchdowns to 22 interceptions in two seasons. Webb struggled with injury and lost his starting job. His best performance came against Arizona State in the Holiday Bowl.

Severe blow. We need this kid badly.

Even if Sefo is healthy and somehow improves his play, we have little to no quality depth behind him.

If Sefo actually does improve his play and stays healthy, I'll take it for this year. At least he will be pushed by Montez.

My concern is that he won't improve his play.
 
I'm hoping that report is merely wishful thinking. Webb would be vital to our success in 2016.

I agree. I'd be psyched, and to some degree I expect it (with expected Oline improvement). But of just as large a concern is his ability to stay healthy throughout the season. While I'd love for Montez to get experience, we also need wins badly. This is definitely one of the many areas where the misses in QB recruiting could really hurt us.

I mean it's not wishful thinking by the writer, he cites InsideCoaches.com, but the credibility of that site and the fact the article was apparently written May 7th I guess brings it into question. I don't know, I still think it's legit but that's partially because I just wanted it to end.
 
At some point, if the Buffs want to stop getting kicked in the nuts with bad news like this in the offseason, they need to make their own luck, and that starts on the field. Somehow, I don't believe he would be wavering all that much if CU would have closed out those late games the last few years and made a freaking bowl game.
 
I'd call it a rumor at this point, but they do seem well connected to Texas, but it also went 4 days unnoticed on twitter. It would be weird to be totally made up, and I already believed he was gone, but it doesn't exactly confirm it. I was just hopeful it was over...

Out of the 9 predictions that they made, only 2 (aTm definitely has some QB problems, Scott Brooks was fired, but it was before that post) came true.

There's no by-line on that article, so it literally could have been written by anyone. Moreover, if you look at the articles above, 4 of the 6 football stories have some connection to aTm, including the Spavital connection in the Webb article.

This is literally the only article i can find that takes a definitive stance that the CU/Cal battle for Webb is over. Some Aggie alum probably wrote that after chatting with Spavital. Doesn't mean Webb is going to CU, but I definitely do not see this as concrete proof he's going to Cal.
 
Our head coach is so amateur hour. Handed the keys to a new 180 million dollar facility ... gets stood up by a second rate transfer. Hard to believe he hadn't been fired yet.

I mean your post adds some color to their credibility but saying they went 2 out of 9 isn't exactly accurate. Saban being the best ever isn't a prediction, that's an opinion. Heat did work out Sam Dekker, that's not a prediction. Manziel to Cowboys was a popular rumour until he did more stupid ****, also it had a question mark. A mock draft is just a mock draft, I don't think it counts towards credibility. Also you counted the Webb to Cal in your number which we don't know if it came true or not yet. It's not credible, it's just a rumor, but your 2 out of 9 seems like a stretch.. Yes it can easily be taken with a grain of salt if you'd like, who really knows.

Not sure what that means exactly because I've generally avoided the politics forum. I mean I give my s***ty opinions enough on football which I know a thing or two about, can't imagine what it'd be like in something where I don't really know what I'm talking about.
