Cool I just heard they make you wear it quite awhile with that injury. I've never had that.
I don't think that injury takes long to get out of the boot, it just takes a **** load of time to get back to 100%. Chad Brown explained it a couple times on the radio and he said he was back running within a couple months but it didn't feel right for over a year. Now, good thing is Sefo didn't actually break his foot.

First, "unlikely" is different than "couldn't". Second, I'm not as down on him as others, he did a lot of good and needs more support.

Any QB is going to be better with this system if they are truly going full in on the Red Gun. Hell if Sonny Cumby, Graham Harrell, and Cliff Kingspareme can look as good as they did even Sefo will be much better. The offense attacks by design and can operate with marginal talent at WR and QB.

Sefo has some bad habits to overcome but as you stated we weren't far away last year in some games.
My sense is that due to the bad defense and limited support on offense Sefo has tried to "do to much" to win games and gone past what his talent is capable of.
If our defense takes a step forward this year it may ease some of that pressure he puts on himself. Add what should be a better O-line giving him more time in the passing game and also making the running game a better contributor and it isn't unreasonable to think that some of that pressure can come off him.
If Sefo just does what he can do without trying to be what he isn't the turnovers (especially the ones at critical times) should go down and give us a better chance to win those games.

Figures that's a ****ty injury.
I do not think anyone questions Sefo's toughness. It is his QB intellect that is lacking. He does not read thru progressions, throws to one WR who he stays targeted on, lobs the ball into traffic when pressured up the middle and only throws balls over 15 yards down the sidelines. Cade Apsay was a noticeable improvement over Sefo last year. He was throwing the ball to TE's, across the middle to various WR's and you could see him reading his progressions.
If Webb leaves CU at the altar, it is down to Sefo and Montez. Sure an improved O-Line can assist, but it cannot change Sefo's inability to read thru defensive schemes and distribute the ball all over the field. He may be tough, but he is not a good QB at this level. If CU is going to lose games, it is better to give the QB of the future development than to suffer through another season with Sefo at the helm.
Webb would definitely be a welcome sight

Give credit where credit is due; I think @buffaholic said somewhere that 2 years ago CU led the conference in fewest sacks allowed whereas last year we allowed the most sacks in conference.

So yes, I think that fixing that issue would probably help Sefos game quite a bit. Dont think for second that Cal's coaches aren't reminding Webb of these details regularly.

Did having the fewest sacks in 2014 help Sefo? He threw 15 INT's, had the lowest Yards Per Attempt of his career (6.43), had a QB rating of 57.5 and the team's record was 2-10, with wins coming against Umass and Hawaii. He is a tough competitor, just not a very good QB at this level, there are no stats to validate otherwise over a three year period.
Based off of everything I've heard Sefo will be ready by fall camp probably at 80-85 percent health.
Kent Baer's defense, or lack thereof, didnt help us close out a couple we could have won. Games where Sefo scored to put us ahead and the D couldnt get a stop. Im not saying Sefo is awesome. But that he is capable of positioning the team to win.
I think that Sefo also had kind of an arena football mentality. The defense isn't going to stop anyone so we have to score on every possession. A lot of his turnovers came from trying make things happen. When that becomes forcing things bad INTs usually happen.
If he can play more within himself the INTs should be reduced a lot. Not seeing the opponent scoring almost every time they have the ball should help.
When they defense couldnt get a stop Sefo went back out there and tied the game. If you put your QB in that situation, put him in situations where he has to win the game, eventually hes going to make mistakes.

Even if we had won them we were a barely middle of the road team. With the OL we had last year we lost the ability for the QB (Sefo or anyone) to be the difference maker that kept it close. Maybe this year will be different. Will the OL be #1 again like they were in 2014? Doubtful. Hopefully they'd be in the middle.
We fixed the defensive problem at least.

When an offense is scoring into the 30's it's hard to blame the QB for every loss.
Yeah. Its a team sport.
That year the issues were on D. Last year they were on the O. That year we made changes to the D staff. Last year we made changes to the O staff.
God please let both be better in sync this year.
Only if you ignore lots of other factors.
