Love to see the Nuggs get Higgins in camp as a UDFA

Really like what the Nuggs have done but they HAVE to re-sign Nene. ( I never thought I'd say that)

Congrats to Alec, but damn....the Jazz? Really?

Are you serious? I'm all Colorado and Colorado teams. I detest any team that is in a conference/division with any team from Colorado.

Perhaps you are missing the alternate definition of jizz......

I'm thinking you missed that Dallas was goofing on you but it wasn't about basketball

I'm counting players. Nuggets loose JR, KMart, and Melvin Ely.
They gain Faried, Hamilton, Miller (possibly).
I don't see any free agent pickups.

The Nuggs did work tonight. the got A LOT better in my mind. Congrats to Alec although it might be hard to buy his jersey now ugh.

Good lord, people are talking more about how they didn't get Jimmer than either of their picks last night. Douchnozzles.

**** utah!

I don't feel sorry for Alec, but of all the places that you don't want to play in the league that has to top the list.

To be expected. Jimmer was all they ever wanted from this draft. It kind of puts Alec in an awkward position as he's starting with zero goodwill from the fanbase. He's got to perform from day 1 or they'll jump on him for being "not Jimmer."

You could hear the Utah front office's sigh of relief in Boulder when Sacramento picked Jimmer. They did NOT want to be put in that position.

Bummer for Alec that he is in Utah. Hopefully he can make the best of it. I also only got to see the beginning of the ESPiN production about Alec when he was picked, but I was disappointed. I recall Bilas saying, lightly recruited, had to take the Colorado offer, no one knows this guy because he played at Colorado, raw, etc. Go ***k yourself ESPiN.

Not psyched about Miller coming back. Knowing Karl, Miller will probably be on the court a lot.

hometown picks don't seem to workout. i remember Charlotte taking JR Reid when the franchise (Hornets) first started and then the Bobcats took Sean May and possibly McCants (?). Reid was kind of a bust and May's not even on the Bobcats roster anymore.

edit: though, i guess by the opposite token, Olajuwon and Drexler worked out pretty good in Houston. in retrospect, how did the Rockets end up with both those guys off the same college team?

Felton, not McCants. McCants went to Minnesota. And then promptly dissappeared.

Won the coin toss for Hakeem (then Akeem) in the famous Olajuwon-Bowie-Jordan draft. Drexler went in the teens the year before to Portland (which is one reason they didn't draft Jordan) and was traded to Houston in '94 for Otis Thorpe.

Random fact of the day, the pick that Portland used on Drexler was actually the Nuggets pick that we sent for TR Dunn.

Seriously, how can he be considered an unknown at Colorado when half the players drafted are from eastern Europe?

East Coast Media Member: "Colorado's in the United States? Really? There are other places besides New York, Philadelphia and Boston? Really? I could've sworn Colorado was in Eastern Europe."

It's true though. Colorado doesn't get much press when it comes to basketball and we haven't really been worth a damn. Burks committed to us early on and said we were his best offer, and that's what Bilas said. He didn't say that he was forced but that we were his best offer.

I was surprised to see Jimmer and that other SG taken ahead of Alec -- he was regarded as (by far) the most complete player of the bunch with the highest upside.

Jimmer's absolute best case scenario is role-playing 3 point specialist, IF he can get his shots off in the NBA.

I'm not implying he will ever be as great, but Steve Nash was very similar coming out of college. He was a shortish guard who could hit a shot from seemingly anywhere past halfcourt but didn't seem to possess all that great of playmaking ability or defensive ability. He wasn't very well liked his first few years because of this. Now, he's one of the best PGs of all time and a tremendous playmaker. I don't know that Jimmer will ever develop PG skills, but if he does I could definitely see him being a useful tool.

Both Fredette and KWalk are better pure shooters, so it may take a little less work to define and work on their roles with their new teams. Alec needs to work on his outside shot and his defense, but he'll bring the ability to get to the rim and the FT line, right away.

I think I saw one college game that Nash played in -- StM's 15 v 2 upset of 'Zona in the tourney. As I recall, his pg skills were pretty good in that game. And yes, I agree, it seemed like he could hit just about any shot imaginable (below the rim, of course).

i think AB needs to work on his ball handling as well. he's got a loose handle bordering at times on being out of control....and he'll be seeing guys with the same quicks as him night-in, night-out with quick hands. he's going to see that guy once or twice a month in a college schedule....however, as badly as he torched UT and Mizzou (UT esp, had good defensive guards) i'm optimistic.

i think Fredette can find a spot in "the League" unless he simply doesn't have the athletic ability to matchup with someone on the D end or is easily taken out of the game by a quicker, bigger d player who can run with him on the perimeter and push him around at the same time.

The things Alec gets criticized for are all things that can be developed with practice.

The things Jimmer gets criticized for include some things that can be developed (learning to share the ball, move without the ball, play some defense). But he also has physical limitations that limit his upside to a much lower ceiling than Alec's.

But he also has physical limitations that limit his upside to a much lower ceiling than Alec's.

and Burks game is already predicated on contact and getting someone's forearm in his chest whilst going to the rim. Jimmer is taking time-line shots to get a clean look if it's there. pure shooters don't like contact...

Jimmer may or may not have a decent career in the league, the one thing that is certain is that he will get every opportunity.

I think it is telling that the Jazz were very happy that they didn't have to be in the position to choose between Jimmer and AB. Burks as an NBA player has a much higher upside. He is taller, quicker, plays better with contact, plays much better defense, and plays much better without the ball.

Jimmer on the other hand is a guy who is going to be the center of attention, deserved or not, because he is something every NBA exec dreams of, the anti-Iverson. He doesn't have tattoos, he doesn't wear dreads, he doesn't run around with a posse of guys who look like they came out of a rap video. The good side of this is that if he is successful he is the kind of player that a lot of fans will pay tickets to see, the bad side is that if he isn't that good, a lot of these same fans will still want to see him.

He's similar in a lot of ways to Tebow and the Broncos. He has a fan base that is love with the image regardless of the substance behind it as a player. They see him as "one of them" and want so badly for him to succeed that they are willing to ignore his flaws.

Any one saying Jimmer is just a spot up shooter hasn't watched him play. He is actually surprisingly athletic and can create his own shot. He is not J.J. Redick
