Obviously this season is headed for an impressive nosedive straight into the crapper, potentially of the historic 0-12 variety. Making 3 basic assumptions...
1. CU wins no more than 2 games this season, and potentially wins 1 or 0
2. They continue to get blown out in their losses
3. HCKD is fired at some point during, or immediately following the season
...where do you think Dorrell ranks all time amongst Colorado coaches, all time? And how far back do you have to go to find someone that's worse?
It feels to me like every coach over the past 20 years, with the possible exceptions of Barnett and Embree, left the program in at least somewhat better condition than how they found it. Barnett of course actually won, and Embree had the decency to both be passionate about the program and to have a mercifully short stay as Head Coach. Dorrell on the other hand hasn't won, doesn't seem to care, and will without a doubt leave the program as a hollowed out smoldering crater of a **** show, miles below the maybe-starting-to-show-a-pulse status that midnight Mel left behind him.
For me, Dorrell is the worst coach of my lifetime (I was born right around when McCartney was hired). I don't know much of anything about the Fairbanks experiment, other than the fact that it went really, really badly. Is Dorrell as bad as Fairbanks? Worse? Or does Dorrell win out there because Fairbanks had sky high expectations and no reasonable person would have thought that Dorrell was going to do a fantastic job?
