Who are the potential All-Conference Buffs for 2012?

  1. Wood is getting all the first team snaps by default because of injury Talked about this already and said it gives him a huge head start
  2. Hirchman still has more experience in the offense. And he missed a whole spring and can't stay healthy
  3. Recently Rip Scherer said Schrock had the best grasp of the offense. Yes but he still hasn't taken any 1st string snaps to my knowledge
  4. Halfway through Spring ball, the coaches went out and got a QB transfer - not exactly a huge vote of confidence in Wood OR Hirchman The staff likes competition and wanted someone who has experience
  5. The coaches have steadfastly refused to say anything about Wood. Which could be a ploy to keep the image of a legit fall QB competition alive, OR is a vote of non-confidence. Or it is both. I think this has to do with keeping an open competition aspect
  6. Shane Dillon isn't on campus yet, and he has been promised a chance to start right away. So has every other freshman that's coming in.
  7. Webb has actual experience and can play at this level, even if it appears he has a low ceiling. I have no problem with this as long as the best player starts, but I believe that to be Wood, even if he lacks experience
  8. There is every indication that there will be a legit competition for QB1 this fall. That doesn't mean that we can't form our opinions regarding who will start

So Daaah then what is the issue here?

I can give you legit reasons, but that doesn't mean they will change your mind. I'm just saying that your blanket assumption may be resting on little more than a foundation of hype.

I also note that I did give you reasons, in fact, a list of them. Those were facts. You seem to be wanting my opinion, which is not a fact. You seem to be basing your opinion on hype, which, by the way, is a collection of other people's opinions.

Try facts Tini. They help you not be wrong.
So then what the **** is the issue here if it's MY OPINION about who will start? Holy **** do you just argue to argue with me on here? Let me hear your opinion on who will start.

Stats? What stats are there to talk about here other than Webb's 1:1 ratio of TD:INT at KU?

solid arguments on certain, but I have the following issues with your post:

DON'T YOU EVER USE RED ON THIS BOARD YOU PIECE OF ****.

Next, the bolded part of your post is ****ing hilarious. You are the one refusing to acknowledge the validity of other people's opinions! Which is the only reason I stepped in. Wood has a solid chance to be the starter. Doesn't mean he will be.

Every opinion has validity, except when I bring up my opinion since you decided to start ripping on it. I don't understand why the **** we are having this discussion since they are all opinions here. You have yours, Daaah has his, and I have mine. All I asked Daaah was if he was that un-confident in Wood's ability.

Oh and I switched it to blue, my bad.

Jordan Webb

How is someone on the bench gonna get selected?

Oh, he can't play this year? We're ****ed.

No he can but Wood will be starting for 13 games.

You're that un-confident in Wood that you think he's not going to be worth a damn?

Can you link me to where it says that Wood has been named the starter? I missed this bit of news somehow..

Do you honestly think anyone is going to overtake him in the fall?

Tini... please read this, then get back to me about your most recent post. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, but god you suck at this.

The initial post when I quoted Daaah was just for my opinion, you're taking it way too serious. I never said it was wrong, just said I didn't agree with it without actually saying that. I asked Frumpy for his opinion, he never responded. Daaah actually responded to my question, and I can see where he is coming from with his opinion.

Interesting take on that sequence of events. Will you agree that the aggressor as to someone else's opinions about the starter in the above sequence was you?

Snow, you left out:

"I never said that I thought he won't be worth a damn. I've just heard that Webb can run and I'm thinking we might desperately need that at the QB position next year. I'm trying to be optimistic and give myself some hope for next season. I realize that I might be grasping at straws, but it really sucks to start the season without being hopeful."

Sure, wood will probably start, but nothing is set in stone as tini seems to think it is.

Yes I would agree with that.

I don't think it's set in stone but I do think he is by far the leader.

Overall, I think it shows the importance of the 2012 and 2013 classes in restocking the skill positions on offense. Even the most optimistic Buffs fans would never say Canty and McCulloch have all-conference potential. So that leaves Richardson, the Texas trio, the incoming freshmen RBs, and the players in the next class going forward. Explosive plays on offense win games.

holy ****, I'm floored. Tini gave up an argument.

Yup, it is now a necessity at least 2 WR in each of the 12 and 13 classes turn into solid producers for us. And probably at least 1 RB from each class as well.

I'd say Jeff Thomas has a shot to get freshman all-conference honors, both because I like the way his game projects at this level (very effective use of his size, and good enough speed) and the fact that I can see him getting a lot of oppotunities.

If you had to guess, which of the Texas trio and RBs have a chance to be explosive? I'm trying to understand if we can reasonably expect any of them to be explosive next year and beyond. Thank you.

The logical choices would Gerald Thomas and Donta Abron. Both should upgrade the speed at their respective positions. Hard to know how Peyton Williams and Terrence Crowder will look after their injuries.

I think Thomas has the potential to be a very good WR, just speed will not necessarily be the reason he gets there.

It brings up another point. Is it a bad sign no one even attempted to bring up any specialists making the all-conference teams? Both kickers should seemingly be better with a year under their belts and we play a total of 7 games at altitude this season. The returners are an unknown.

After the past few years we have been trained to pretend they don't exist to preserve our mental health.
