Who will our new DB Coach be?

Any ideas?

Mac said he's been interviewing candidates and Elliot is now on staff. I know Buffzone isn't always ahead of the game but Howell's weekly chat made it sound like we could know soon- before National Signing Day on 2/1.

Would not be a surprise if it happened this week.

I want another passion/energy guy for recruiting. And I want someone who has recruiting chops in the footprint. Ideally in California. More ideally, SD/OC where I don't think we've had enough going on.

Mac might want to just go ahead and hire 2 DB coaches. Got a feeling Tumpkin's last game with CU was the Alamo bowl.

Isn't Ryan Walters from CA? Can't say I know much about how successful his coaching career has been, but he is consistently getting jobs. I think he was at Arizona, Memphis and Mizzou.

Walters is rising fast. Promoted to Co-DC for 2016 at Mizzou when the DC he came from Memphis with got promoted to HC.

Adam just said that they are finishing the background check with a plan to get the new CB Coach on the road this Thursday. Name is "under lock and key", though.

Why? I don't understand the total lock down for a DB coach hire. I don't really understand it for the DC hire either, but at least that's a higher profile position with fewer candidates. Don't get it.

It gives his former coaches and players a chance to hear from him in person instead of find out on Twitter. Also, as we should know by now, it's not a done deal until everything is signed. Kind of a bad look to leak a name that doesn't end up being the guy.

I don't know. Obviously, it would be better for AB and more fun if we had leaks and media speculation on candidates like other programs have as the norm. Be fun to talk about. What I do know is that it's damn impressive in this day and age to be able to keep this stuff under wraps. As much as it frustrates me, I'm also giving grudging respect to RG, MM and Plati on this for how tight the current CU is on leaks.

I'm fine waiting and seeing who it is. Colorado needs to be nothing like Oregon/Clark/leavitt. Players finding out on twitter and then the Clark info came out what, a week before it was official? That was ridiculous.
