WSU Game Visit

Hi Coug,

Nice team you've got this year. No trip to Boulder is complete without lunch at The Sink, it's the iconic college bar of CU. Make sure you're able to get there before the game.
I'm within walking distance of The Sink, and I'm still more of a Dark Horse guy. Go to the Dark Horse, Coug, not The Sink.

For an easy hike with great views, I recommend driving up Flagstaff to the summit and taking West Ridge Trail to the top of Green Mountain. Great views driving up. Great views of the town from the summit.

If you want a challenging hike, it's Royal Arch in Chautauqua.

Weather permitting on both.

Westminster? WTF?

How bad is it? haha. Is there uber/lyft to get us into Boulder?

It's not a "bad" part of town...Denver doesn't really have any areas like that. It's just a blah, middle class suburban community with no night life. Lyft/Uber should be easy...just a jog down Buffalo Highway (aka the turnpike aka Hwy 36). Are you traveling with the team?

Westminster is very nice for parents in their late 30s with a penchant for Appleby’s. It’s McFranchisie urban sprawl with some hidden nice neighborhoods that you’ll never see.

I think it’s, like, a 20 hour drive from Boulder (disclaimer: all estimates expressed in People Republic hyperbole, and not grounded in anything approximating reality).

Thanks. Didn't mean like a bad part, just bad in the sense of away from it all. We are kinda traveling with the team, hence why we picked there. So might try and then change our hotel for Saturday night to something in Boulder.

Westminster is fine, albeit not particularly exciting. Where that hotel is located is right across from some good restaurants and a big movie theater. There’s an ice rink there too, if that’s your thing. It’s about a 20 minute drive to Boulder from there when traffic is good. Traffic won’t be good on a Saturday morning before a game. Give yourself at least an hour.

Yeah, fly out to CO to go to a regal cinemas and a public skate.

Jesus man, what’s your deal?

He seemed to be concerned that he had chosen a bad spot. It’s not bad. It’s just kind of boring. Did I not make that clear or are you just being difficult?
I can’t weigh in until I know what restaurant you were recommending.

And you do have a point about the theater. There should be another superhero movie out by then.

There’s Cachina at the Westin, the Rock Bottom, Bar Louie and Dave and Busters. Nice places. Not other worldly, but honestly, not terrible either. I’m just trying to point out that there are some options nearby. Maybe he likes places like that.
Oh, and there’s Legacy Ridge about two mikes away if he wants some decent golf. Gotta throw in the golfing options in these threads.

Don't forget the Butterfly Pavilion! Though he did miss Bug-A-Boo.

Staying in Westminster when traveling to Boulder is like going to visit Pullman and staying in Moscow.

Appreciate the insight here! I would just rather not have to take 3-4 25 minute uber rides over the course of the weekend. Obviously, Boulder is the best option so might move closer for Saturday night since the team will have taken off and we will be around most of Sunday to check things out!

You forgot The Butterfly Pavilion. I’ve never been there but hear it’s great for kids.

Westminster is also closer to Downtown Denver. Roughly halfway between Denver and Boulder. So while in Westminster, you could Uber into Denver and save the Boulder stuff for later.

The restless dreams of youth”

Yes, there are Lyfts and Ubers.

Think of it like booking in Bellevue instead of Seattle or Walnut Creek instead of Berkeley or Colfax instead of Pullman. (At least Moscow is a college town)
