Xavier Johnson getting some love from Grantland

Melo ruined the head band for me. No headbands, unless you're playing racquetball.

I love the kid, but I'd like him to make more free throws and (for God sakes) get a haircut.

his release point is way higher ths year, no? He's 8-11 this year, clearly a small sample size but he used to sling shot it from his shoulder and not have much arc, it looks to be higher and have more arc this year, hopefully in translates to improved FT%.

Yes. I haven't watched all of his closely, but I have noticed a high start and release point on some. Noticed his old bad low and long form on one miss of his. With free throws you want very little motion. Less moving parts, less variables to make you miss. Shouldn't be more than a wrist flip and small elbow extension after bringing the ball to the release point. Those are two separate steps that should not have a continuous motion. Slight pause between. That makes the difference.
