You don't need DTV for redzone this Football season (for real!)

Seriously! You don't need to be a subscriber... Just be in the USA!

What it boils down too: buy Madden Anniversary Edition ($100). Either play the game or sell it, whatever (could get $30 back). Enter code. Watch some NFL Ticket for 2013!

The cheapest way to watch a buttload of NFL games this year—all of them live—is with a copy of Madden. You don't need an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or satellite dish to do it, either. Maybe the people behind the deal can't tell you, but I can: This will work.

It was true then, it's true today, it'll be true when the game releases at the end of the month: You buy Madden NFL 25's "Anniversary Edition" for $100, you get a code that lets you watch DirecTV's Sunday Ticket Max service on a computer or a mobile device.
That's a hundred bucks, yes (and regular edition Madden is $60)....

Although yesterday I did get one good question I hadn't thought of. A guy asked if he needed either console to get to the code. No, the code will be on a paper insert in the game case, not in some corner of Madden's game menu. So even if you have no Xbox 360 or PS3, you can look on this as $100 to get Sunday Ticket on a computer or mobile device, and sell the disc to GameStop or over half.com for a nice little rebate. It may not be the same as watching it on your big screen TV—unless you're a smart enough guy to get your computer/mobile device's signal onto your big screen TV.

Great find, I'm in. Found this in Amazon's FAQ on the package:

it hurts when you don't read my posts :sad1:

I'm sure some people will say it hurts when they do.

Well now I won't..... :sad1:

I've been with them at the same address since 1998. I was even a USSB subscriber at one time. If I call them to cancel, they better offer me a significant ****ing shareholder position to try to get me to stay.

Which is probably more likely than them actually offering the Pac-12 Network....

DD just went for this so hope it is legit. NFL was his biggest issue with dumping DTV so we should all be good now.

The fine print on this seems to be questionable regarding if it's really free for everyone:

Exclusive Offers From DirecTV

  • For fans who are not currently DirecTV subscribers but are able to receive DirecTV service, they will receive a promo code entitling them to $10 off per month for their first year of service and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge.
  • For fans who are already DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscribers, you can access NFL Sunday Ticket on your computer, tablet, and mobile devices using your current DirecTV username and password.
  • For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) trial of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel.

For those looking for a way to wondering how to get the Sunday Ticket feed on their big screen if they order this Madden deal, take a look at this:

http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/devices/chromecast/#netflix

Should be a pretty simple solution provided you stream the feed from your PC or tablet in a Chrome browser. Unfortunately the initial run sold out pretty much everywhere so you'll have to order now and hope Google delivers by the start of the season. I just ordered mine directly from Google, and they are saying 3-4 weeks for delivery, Amazon is reporting a longer date.

****. I haven't bought a new Madden game is about a decade. Looks like I'm going to have to pull the trigger on this deal.

Sweet, thanks for information. Why does the thread title say don't need dtv for redzone though? We are talking about sunday ticket, right? And to contribute to the thread, someone said you can get $30 for selling madden. I think you get the best prices for selling games to amazon, I think you can get at least $40 back from them. Also people saying they are disappointed that its only on computer, just buy an hdmi cable and connect your laptop to tv. A lot of people don't realize that is all you need to do.

Don't even need to worry if you don't have an HDMI or DVI out on your laptop, spend 35 bucks on that Google Chromecast I linked above and you can stream wirelessly as long as you stream the feed in a Chrome browser.

Bump - Amazon delivered mine today. And.... I'm not opening it until someone verifies the Sunday Ticket thing. 2 of 3 current reviews on amazon say it works, the third one says it doesn't. (Although it sort of looks like the third guy is a moron who thinks he gets it on his DTV subscription for free, not on computer/tablet/phone for free.)

So anyone on here receive it and verify it? God knows why, but I trust random allbuff posters more than random amazon reviewers...

Just ordered on Amazon with a scheduled delivery date of August 29th. You might consider cancelling your Google order.

Edit to put Darth on notice that if this doesn't work, I'm filing a class action lawsuit against Kotaku (Gawker Media), Amazon and Darth.
